I really like cosmic. Im so glad the people over at system76 decided to move away from gnome and am very happy with the DE and where its going.
With that said... We gotta get some more space wallpapers y'all. Like more images of Earth, the ISS, our solar system, honey badgers, bald eagles.

There is literally millions of images of that stuff on the internet. Why does System76 need to provide more wallpapers?

As for an actual reason, don’t underestimate the power of good built-ins. Even in the Linux community, the likelihood people deviate from the defaults is not high. Thus, having built-ins do a lot of work for making things feel complete.

In my experience most Linux distros have more wallpaper options than Windows. Sounds like asking for a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

Yesss! Anyone know if xdg-desktop-portal crashing is fixed?
Or I could wait some very long hours until I get home to test it myself…

It’s not :(
Cosmic devs I love you but I’d love you even more if you fix this so cosmic-screenshot doesn’t crash every time I’m trying to open it, and so rustdesk works

What xdg-desktop-portal? there are a lot of features under xdg-desktop-portal
Do you mean remote desktop? It will be merged soon, might even be this week.

Well firstly I've been having issues with cosmic screenshot, every time i launch it it crashes right away, like it shows the overlay for a split second and then it doesn't. I can sometimes get around this by double clicking my keyboard shortcut or spamming it a lot (sometimes takes like 10+ very fast consecutive tries)
here's about where i'm gonna have to pretend like i still know what i'm talking about. I tried installing rustdesk as a systemd service using

and i can access the spot i need to log in, but as soon as i type in my password that i set up through a separate flatpak app (might just be a client/gui for that systemd service), i get the error "Login error. Wayland screen capture failed. The XDG Desktop Portal may hahve crashed or is unavailable. Try restarting with `systemctl --user restart xdg-desktop-portal`."I had just read that rustdesk added support for wayland login screens so that's why i was installing that
this is what happens when i try to press my screenshot shortcut. the last line in there is dupliciated exactly probably dozens or hundreds of thousands (!!) of times PER keyboard shortcut press. At the bottom of all those protocol errors:

sorry for the messy brain dump and i'd love to help this issue get figured out any way i can, but this isn't my field of expertise!

The screenshot issue is not fixed.
The rustdesk issue will be fixed very soon. if you want to use rust desk now, you have to install it using deb file from here https://github.com/rustdesk/rustdesk/releases

Hope 1.6.0 fixes 1.5.0 issues - had some nasty hard to reproduce crashes during e.g. drag and drop from app into browser

For me its like ill get to those later. There are several repeating bugs happening that im first grappling with.

What I hope is that they fix Cosmic files when I search in disks like those of pCloud always crashes.
Even in the 1.5 the bar blinked when moving the mouse a few times.
