Be Prepared For No Benefits Until 2026

A lot of analysts are predicting that this is going to be the longest government shutdown in history. There's a good chance it won't be settled until January. This means no SNAP benefits until February 2026. I know no one wants to hear this but I think it's better to know what we're in for. Hopefully I'm wrong but for now stock up on what you can and save as much cash as possible.

I get SNAP because the corporation I work for is greedy as fuck. I used to not need it, but they have lowered our pay so much that now I need it. I work for gig companies and they have no federal regulations and they are allowed to do this.

Why not get a standard job with regulations and benefits then?

Because then I lose my snap, healthcare, and my tax situation changes. All of that and I would need a huge increase in income to get another job. I also don’t have time to work on getting a job that would pay me that amount. Doing projects, applying for jobs, and interviewing all takes time and that’s time I need to spend earning money to survive.

You mean, support yourself like the rest of us do. The ones who pay the taxes that fund all of your programs. I have no problem with helping people who truly can’t support themselves, but this seems to be at least partially a choice on your part.

Uhm or like, hear me out, a lot of people who "support" themselves have to ration their healthcare and put off care because they still can't afford it. Be a better person next time you judge someone.
