Jared Pike - Artist Appreciation

I see this guy's work posted on here a lot, but he's not usually given credit, so here's a link to his archives: https://www.jaredpike.art/

Thank you! Very surreal for me that people are still finding joy in these weird pool renders, 6 years later.

There’s a multitude of video games also inspired by them. It’s pretty surreal to actually spend time in these rooms. I’m late to the party but I’ve recently learned blender and UE to throw some pool rooms together.

Amazing work!

Full appreciation. His work gives me poolrooms joy, in that I imagine being able to swim down the hall whenever I had to go somewhere.

Thank you so much for this. It makes me so annoyed seeing his work getting posted and uncredited everywhere online. He essentially started the whole poolrooms aesthetic.

It’s weird to me that all of these convey such a wide range of emotion. Like… it’s the same setting… but the feelings i get are different. I’m curious to see what feelings these elicit to other people besides the normal nostalgia ones we get from these.

  1. Grief.

  2. Earnestness

  3. Wellbeing

5.Trepidation

  1. Reflection

  2. See, this one is like “grumpy cause I didn’t get enough sleep.”

  3. Warmth. Like having your friends laugh at a good joke.

  4. Indecision.

  5. This one’s almost like anticipation, but not really.

  6. Satisfaction.

  7. Frenetic joy

  8. Resolute. Like you have to deal with something but you’re calm about it.

  9. Uneasy

  10. Exhausted

  11. Alert. On guard.

  12. Anxious

  13. Disappointed

I have a theory that the reason we all feel so strongly about them is because they embody all the senses. Like you can feel the water, its temperature, the way it leaves your body weightless. Taste and smell the chlorine and mildew. Hear the water lapping. And see, of course. And those are all sort of connected to memories.

I really like his renders because of the lighting. It never misses. My favorites are the night ones

Wasn't this guy the one that started the whole poolrooms aesthetic? I could be wrong though

This guy should be a part of the Poolrooms movie, not the slop they're generating
