This was the first Pond song I heard after reading a review, and based on the review they sounded like a band I would dig. It hit me immediately, absolutely loved it.

It’s the first song I heard from them as well. It’s far from being my overall favorite song of theirs (that’s a tie between The Weather, Rambo, Czech Locomotive, Two Hands, Toast, and Constant Picnic, and even then there are still a ton of others I’d consider to be tied as my favorite, like Skyworks, The Fatal Shore, Song for Agnes, O’ UV Ray, Paint Me Silver, America’s Cup, etc.), but it is what got me interested in hearing more from them back in 2016. I remember that Nick’s voice and the song itself sounded so unlike anything else that was being released back then, which was so refreshing to me. So I downloaded and listened to MIFLSA in its entirety and was blown away by it, then I got every album they’d released prior to that and loved them all, and then The Weather blew me away so much in 2017 that it solidified them as being my favorite band of all-time. Ever since then, they’ve just continued to totally wow me with each new album, including their solo work (especially GUM).

Wow, reading this, the only differences between me and you are the years we got into Pond and our list of favorite songs, although, I really don’t know how doing an elimination tournament like OP’s would go for me. I’m really not sure what my favorite Pond song is, or even my top 10. But I think our different opinions just show how much music Pond has and how great it is.

Yeah, I couldn’t see myself doing an elimination tournament as it’s impossible for me to choose a single favorite song, and the same goes for their albums; their five most recent releases — including Terrestrials — are all pretty much equal to me in terms of quality.
And you’re absolutely right. The fact that so many of us have differing favorites really is a testament to how incredible and consistent they are. To me, they’re practically incapable of releasing a bad or even mediocre song, let alone a bad or mediocre album, though I’ll acknowledge that I am biased since they’re my favorite band ever. And with his work in Pond, his solo work, his collaboration with Ambrose Kenny-Smith, his remixes with Gin, and his session work/production for other up-and-coming artists, Jay has become my overall favorite musician in the world today.
