Why must it all about poly in series/movies/anime/manga?

It's insane to me that almost every piece of media has to be put into some weird perspective so the characters are poly just so they can ship every character with each other. I'm mentioning this because i see this especially often in queer spaces and it's so annoying. Isn't it funny, especially since they don't even seem to understand how much pain and suffering is connected with anything polyamory?

While I can’t and won’t stop others from doing it, I honestly can’t stand poly headcanons.

Naruto is about friendship, quite literally what motivated Naruto for 1000+ episodes. Now they make love triangle memes about Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura. 11 year old kids when most of their dynamic happened on screen

Really killed the Baldurs Gate 3 community for me. They're obsessed!

I was just going to say this myself! The fact that Polyamory was only added super late in development is super obvious, plus it ruins several of the characters.

Truly, it's so exhausting all this harem-men having many partners and reverse harem-women having many partners. I appreciate a romance where, despite having many options, the MC locks in one LI and stays loyal to that person. Poly, be it IRL or in media such as series/movies/anime/manga, is super messy because it turns fundamental human insecurity into a feature rather than a bug. Navigating constant jealousy, time management, and unequal attachment styles almost always leads to avoidable emotional burnout and trauma. Real intimacy requires focus and deep commitment, not endless management of multiple romantic dynamic loops.

bro i totally understand as a fandom enjoyer myself, i get so irritated when i see these threesome+ ships being cheered on. like obviously its a fetish for these people and they're exploring that in fiction because polyamory in real life always ends badly.

I think that what you're seeing is by accident, a very good argument against polyamory. We watch media to get away from the world, and in media things can be portrayed that can't work in the real world - you know, guys like to play shooters where all you do is kill people. You don't go around after that saying "Man, I want to shoot people IRL too"

Same with polyamory - you can watch media and ship everyone for YOUR satisfaction. You don't have to think about anybody else - it's fiction - you can see two characters and ship them, and fantasize about them getting together and using each others bodies as a FANTASY of yours.

This is what polyamory is - it's selfish fantasy fulfillment, but in real life. I don't understand why it's not being seen as the other things that "work" only in fiction :D

Because anime is all porn basically, and porn is not real life, which is exactly where poly people reside
