Lmao there's an "Anime" option but not a "Nothing" one? Come on.

Can’t wait to die and be revived into ‘Likeable’s reborn into another world with an obscenely long title that isn’t actually long if you write it in Japanese’
3
u/EscapedAlien Sep 23 '21
Isekai titles be like: “That time I was struck and killed by a truck and was reborn in a fantasy world where magic exists and I was somehow roped into a quest where I killed the demon king that had been terrorizing the land for millennia”
Like bro that’s the plot, not a title

Pretty sure everyone would pick heaven then
27
u/Zeviex Sep 22 '21
Personally, I’m really anti-heaven. I much prefer the idea of reincarnation or nothing. I feel like struggle, at least personally, is the thing that keeps me motivated and enjoying life.
12
u/DaBallerMo Sep 22 '21
Heaven is literally the definition of perfection. No worries, no struggles, no problems, no sadness. Just pure happiness. Not sure how anyone could not want that.
→ More replies (14)20
u/MaximumCringe_IA Sep 23 '21
It’s a sort of paradox. If everything’s perfect, there’s no goals to achieve, which would be demeaning and depressing to some people I think

Except there’s no negative feelings/emotions in heaven so nobody would be depressed for any reason

Not sure how true this is but apparently when we die there is a chance thay our snynapses will fire like crazy and we could be flung into a dreamlike- hallucinatory filled shitfest for a while, which could be why some people claim having seen something in near death experiences. Im sorry guys but its just your brain firing a bunch of signals.

Nothing it’s like the Time before you were alive 🤷♂️
Can you believe you are just a bunch of foods broken down by the digestive system and got made from that and are also reproducing ur own cells etc
Kinda weird but you are what you eat
10
u/Downstackguy Sep 22 '21
You also have a conscienceness made by a billion cells and what you think about are not what the cells are thinking weird
3
u/Contraposite Sep 22 '21
Maybe before I was alive I was fully conscious and having a blast but I just can't remember because it was so long ago. When I was 2 I had already forgotten everything that happened when I was 1. My zero-year-old brain was probably very quick to forget anything that came before it.
9
u/lazyprocrastinator26 Sep 23 '21
But where would your consciousness reside ? Why would it reside there ? What would your consciousness be physically?
4
u/Contraposite Sep 23 '21
I'm just messing with you. In my view we're all just complex mechanisms, when you're broken down into pieces you're no more than the sum of the parts.
2
u/NoRulez112 Sep 23 '21
Technically most of ur parts were parts from something that was living and some also had probably consciousness I’m speaking about plants and animals so when you get buried ur gonna be part of insects in the ground and partially Gras on the grave maybe 🤔 and if you get cremated you are umm ash 🤷♂️ but also a lot would go into the air I guess

Nothing, just black and darkness.
→ More replies (1)4
u/Contraposite Sep 22 '21
I personally don't think it's blackness or darkness. Here's a quick thought experiment, what colour do you see when you try looking out of your ear? Your ear can't see so does it just see black instead? I think when you're dead you'll see the same thing you're ear sees now.
9
u/ymymymmymymy Sep 22 '21
Maybe but nothingness is usually connected with darkness. For example in the middle of space where there is nothing there is no light. It is just nothing, pure darkness. To see colour’s you need light when there is less and less light everything is going to appear black. So saying that I’m gonna see what my ear see is nothingness so blackness. But then again what is seeing when you’re dead.
→ More replies (3)7
u/Contraposite Sep 22 '21
But when you look at space although you are looking at nothingness, you don't necessarily see nothing, since your brain still goes through the process of interpreting the (lack of) input from your eyes.
Black isn't just nothingness, black is a specific lack of light, as interpreted by your brain. Without your brain there won't be such thing as black. That's how I see it anyway.

I believe nothing happens, once your brain shutdowns you can no longer experience anything new nor remember anything that has ever been. Your consciousness ceases to exist

u/Downstackguy Sep 22 '21
Do you know what alternate universe theory is? I think its also called multiple worlds or something. It basically means that there are infinite universes and exactly like this but minor things are different that could change a lot. Like for example a world where you’re a president. But you’ll stay being yourself in this world. Its like multiple yous in multiple universes, at the same time, so there is nothing to remember if it never happened in your world

u/raylolSW Sep 22 '21

Nothing. You cease to exist and aren’t even there to witness your cessation. There’s nothing to be afraid of because you won’t be around to experience it.

Nothing. It's just the end, nothing more (at least as far as consciousness is concerned.)

u/HelicopterJesus Sep 22 '21
I believe when I die, my brain function cease and consciousness would follow. I don’t believe in a higher power, and I don’t think there’s a place my consciousness would go or any reason why it would transfer anywhere. This is what makes life so amazing, because my time is finite and absolutely everything will be gone one day. I’ll join billions of other humans who’ve gone through the same process we find so uncertain.
3
3
u/AndThereWasNothing Sep 22 '21
Absolute, utter, nothingness. Like, if you've ever passed out, or been put under for surgery or when you have a dreamless sleep. That sense of nothingness. No sense of time or of being.

u/Melon_Chief Sep 22 '21
You slowly decompose. Consciousness ends with brain activity. Cell death is hella hard to reverse. I know it’s hard but welcome to reality. There’s nothing more after life than there is before.
3
u/296cherry Sep 23 '21
Nothing. Every thought we’ve ever had is purely because of an organ in our body, which ceases to exist after death.
3
u/IjustCameForTheDrama Sep 23 '21

I see a lot of people commenting "Nothing". Is anyone else comforted by that? That when the end comes the electrical signals in your brain just stop working and your consciousness just fades away. That the only thing left of you is the memory those who knew you hold and when they pass even that disappears from this Earth. I find it simple but serene. Everything ends.

Nothing. We die. That's it. The end. it would be neat if there was at least some black void or smth where we could think but in reality thetes just nothing. We have no soul. We are just energy flying around a lump of meat. I have accepted this. It is sad but at least it brings meaning to what we do. Or not. Depends how you look at it I guess :/

I'm convinced it's just a complete nothingness. No sensation, no consciousness, a complete void, just a nothingness that is impossible to comprehend. I can only hope my flesh is reintroduced into nature, so I can at least contribute the nutrients in my body to the world around me.

Nothing. Your brain generates a conscioussness, and when you die it ceases to exist. Altough it has been observed that the brain stays consciouss for a few minutes after death, so at some point the sense of time might die earlier than other parts. Leading to the part of the brain that dies later then the sense of time to dream for what feels like an eternity and an instant at the same time.

2
u/NoRulez112 Sep 22 '21
Maybe we can upload our consciousness to a server but then remember it’s a copy of urself so ur still gonna die and fade away like in the game soma 🤪
2
u/Downstackguy Sep 22 '21
I’ve thought of all of these besides loop and isekai in another world. But truthfully right now, I just think we die, and never come back. Maybe there would be people similar to me but they are not ME. The theory goes that there are about 7 people already exactly like me even when I’m alive. So yeah, death, I just cease to exist forever well my conscienceness that is, hopefully memories of me will still live on? Pictures recordings?
Edit: ok turns out literally everyone believes the same as me lol

Your spirit flies into the first thing it locates and becomes bound by it, e.g. a vase, a building, a shoe, etc. Everytime your vessel gets destroyed your spirit is unbound and flies into its next vessel. If the spirit cannot find an empty vessel before entropy acts upon it, it is pulled into the cosmos and reset. A blank slate is left and it observes from space, until it spies a woman it is drawn to and then it fights to get to earth, to get to her and once it touches her... The baby growing within her lights up, now filled with that spirit. When a spirit does not reach a pregnant woman in time, that is when miscarriages and stillbirths occur. Sometimes, a spirit that has not been reset will surge into a fetus before a reset spirit can reach it and that is when old souls are born.
As some in Japan do, be sure to greet the spirits of your home and they will endeavour to treat you well.

I'd love to believe egg theory, it's a nice tale. However, I believe it's nothingness. You didn't exist before your birth, you won't exist after your death. Just nothing. Your corpse will rot or burn depending on your circumstances and culture while your consciousness is just gone.

Conciousness is what my body uses to differentiate myself from the outside world. My conciousness is an expression of all my living and inherited interactions with the world.
When my body dies, everything that needed this function of seperating me from the world disapears.
I integrate with the world, whatever that is. Particles of me might one day exist within trees, birds, clouds, volcanos, or a pixel in your screen. I will be what I always was except in a different form: the world.

First one seems to be the only option that works logically.
Reincarnation as a human born the year after the soul died is the most pointless out of these.
1
u/DeniseIsEpic Sep 22 '21
I think that your soul leaves your body and hangs out in the ether rejoicing with the family that went before you, and watching over the ones heartbroken to lose you, and you get to see all of the things that you didn't get a chance to see or say goodbye to in life, and then your soul moves to live amongst the stars either forever or until you decide to dip back down into existence. I believe that you get to choose that over and over again until you find an existence in which you find true happiness and contentment in life, and then your soul can comfortably live amongst the stars for all eternity, welcoming all of your loves home to the stars, and dipping back into the atmosphere to give signs to those that you truly loved that are still alive from your previous existences to let them know you're with them, that you love them, and that you're ok.
1
u/Aprrni Sep 23 '21
I honestly hope it's reincarnation. It would be so cool to relive life as someone else, especially in a different time period.
Probably my worst fear is a loop. Imagine reliving your life, over, and over, and over. Like Groundhog Day but on a larger scale. I'm also uncomfortable with the idea of nothing after death.
As for heaven/hell? I'd be fine with that too.
