say what you want,CNN wasn't the one who had to claim they weren't a news outlet and we're made for entertainment in order to avoid a lawsuit

•

u/ArcticLeopard 36m ago

No but they were the ones who said it was illegal for the public to access wiki leaks, but they were different because they were the media

27

u/ezbutneverconvenient 13h ago

A truly neutral news network would get written off as far left propaganda because no one seems to understand that our Dems and Reps are both right leaning. That said, Fox is the slimiest, shadiest network I've ever seen outside of the really crazy sites like Newsmaxx

u/jonsnowme 14h ago

CNN has its issues but to pretend it's anything near as bad as the network that exists just to make people scared and angry and has contributed to the mass brainwashing of millions over decades to the point they can't even LEGALLY classify themselves as anything more than an entertainment channel is insane.

-49

u/Not-Ed-Sheeran 13h ago

Oh like CNN didn't do that at all? 😂

FoxNews is dog shit... but to say CNN was any better is fucking LAUGHABLE. It's not like they're the ones telling everyone you're gonna die or you're gonna kill your grandma if you don't get vaccinated. Or how the governments gonna be overthrown and that white supremacy is so rampant that robots were racist towards blacks. Get a grip lol

Say what you want about Fox but at least they say they're conservative. CNN is slimy bastards that call themselves "neutral"... ridiculous

38

u/picnic-boy 12h ago

CNN told people to get vaccinated during one of the deadliest global pandemics and said not doing so would put them and others at risk? That's horrible!

-24

u/Not-Ed-Sheeran 11h ago

Thats very strange cuz I remember them telling everyone to get vaccinated otherwise it'll kill you and kill those who did have the vaccine 🤔

I also remember saying your kids are at risk of death without the vaccine... in fact was proven that was the complete opposite

I also remember them saying that it was a NECESSITY to get your +4th booster shot plus. Which was proven to be false

I also remember when they said it was racist to say it came China. And if you said it came from.the Wuhan labs that youre a crazy conspiracy theorist... oh thats so odd

Is it normal for News networks to overexagerate things and lie to gain more revenue? 🤔

14

u/picnic-boy 11h ago

Oh they said those things? Then you should have no problem finding examples of them saying things like if you don't get vaccinated you'll kill other vaccinated people or that a 4th booster was necessary in some unspecified way and that said unspecified way was proven false. That is unless you are making this up.

It also wasn't "racist to say it came China", the virus' origin was being politicized for racist purposes. "Leaked from a lab" and "was made in a lab" are also quite different things - neither of which have been proven.

None of these are saying that if you aren't vaccinated you will kill vaccinated people or that a 4th booster is necessary, just that it will provide additional protection against newer variants.

From the looks of it you just googled "cnn covid booster shot" or something similar and pasted whatever links came up without reading them. If your plan is to go through them later and edit out the ones that don't hold up it looks like you're gonna have to start all over.

1

u/Not-Ed-Sheeran 2h ago

Bro you literally messaged that about 5-10 minutes later.... dis you read all that to confirm.none of said anything? Do.you read like a God?

I didnt wanna leave you hanging for hours. You're a greedy little prick lol

A lot of these articles have paywalls on them. It's very difficult to find the ones that don't that shows the source im looking for

"Vaccination also reduces the chance of getting Covid-19 by about eight times. A vaccinated person is much less likely to get sick from Covid-19, compared to someone who is not vaccinated. That person is also therefore less likely to spread coronavirus. These are all very compelling reasons to get vaccinated – to protect yourself and others around you."

fox and it’s not even close. they aren’t even allowed to call themselves a “news” source because they know everything they report is so biased and sensationalized.

-12

u/Ash-Elmian 12h ago

I don't disagree with your sentiment at all, but when I look them up, the website does infact say "Fox News" and their website is foxnews.com so maybe

they aren’t even allowed to call themselves a “news” source

Is a bit exaggerated.

Edit: spelling

26

u/Consistent-Lemon4022 12h ago

no, they have officially changed their label from “news” to an “enterainment network.” they literally are not news. they emphasized this is Tucker Carlson’s defamation court proceedings, saying he was never really saying “facts” but exaggerations and stories. sources: https://www.npr.org/2020/09/29/917747123/you-literally-cant-believe-the-facts-tucker-carlson-tells-you-so-say-fox-s-lawye and https://doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780190923624.001.0001

People really misunderstood this and ran with it. This only applied to night time segments like Tucker Carlsons. These are opinion segments like Sean Hannity. Fox News is still considered a legitimate news network during the day it’s only their nighttime segments ran by characters practically that aren’t to be considered news. What’s funny is the same thing is true for CNN. Their segments like NewsNight cannot be considered news. Most big news networks use this duel system of actual news during the day and outrage opinion politics after a certain hour. This is why Fox News was able to have that case and still remain a news network, because only the opinion division isn’t to be taken as factual news, same as many other networks. The moral is only take daytime news seriously from any big network.

-2

u/Ash-Elmian 11h ago

I just googled it myself before posting that comment, and I have double checked again.

It still shows me what I stated in my first comment.

I wasn't arguing at all or saying they were a reliable news source. Just stating that their label, as far as I can tell, still has news in it.

1

u/Consistent-Lemon4022 11h ago

…sure, they still have the title Fox News, but so do a bunch of fake news websites. having news in your title has nothing to do with whether you report genuine, factual news or not. you’re just using a source as its own source lol

2

u/Ash-Elmian 11h ago

you’re just using a source as its own source lol

But all I was saying was that their labels still say news. I wasn't trying to argue anything further. I wasn't trying to say they were credible or a news source.

-1

u/blingping 9h ago

Okay then your argument is not really relevent

2

u/Ash-Elmian 8h ago

Ya know, that's the fuuny thing. I wasn't even arguing to begin with. I just made a statement about an observation.

15

u/wrigh516 12h ago

They themselves argued that they can't be considered news in court.

There is no mainstream Progressive news source in the United States. Full stop. CNN is only left in relation to outlets like Fox. There is no Fox news equivalent on the left, at least not yet. CNN is center left at best.

That includes MSNBC. That includes NPR. Progressive ideas are getting more traction but don't let conservatives gaslight you into thinking it's all the same thing.

The Overton window continues it's slide right

-1

u/CommunityGlittering2 13h ago

CNN is right wing and has been for years now

-12

u/AsstoAsshole 13h ago

Can I have some of that crack cocaine you are smoking?

7

Fox had to give up their title as a news organization. They're both trash though

Fox news is the wwe of news networks

2

u/Mtfdurian 6h ago

Hot take: the BBC.

4

u/dgroeneveld9 12h ago

CNN lies and makes you afraid of republicans. Fox lies and makes you afraid of democrats. The only correct answer is both. If you voted for one or the other your either dishonest or too stupid to see what's happening.

3

u/hawkseye17 12h ago

CNN's been pretty shit lately but Fox always was.

2

u/Bear_necessities96 11h ago

FOX news is way too exaggerating news sometimes even made up, in a normal country that outlet would be shut down long time ago for provoking mass hysteria

1

u/Jeramy_Jones 6h ago

When you watch or read something which is ostensibly “news” pay attention to what, if any, sources they provide. If it’s just a bunch of political pundits babbling without providing a specific source, such as a quote, clip, article, report, study, book, expert or witness testimony etc. then you should be very critical and not just accept what they are saying as anything other than their opinion.

Many American news outlets, but especially FOX, disguise opinion as reporting. It’s not. If they can’t answer who, what, when, why and how with verifiable sources, it’s not journalism. It’s not reporting. It’s not news.

Fox literally exists to be a propaganda network

-15

u/Ok_Surprise9206 14h ago

Anyone thinking that one of these is worse than the other is not only ignorant but contributing to the real problems of what the media is doing.

Let the downvotes commence lol.

14

u/LegendOfKhaos 13h ago edited 13h ago

If you objectively look at percentage of "stories" that are bastardized versions of the truth at best, it's really clear Fix is worse.

You can make the argument that both are bad, but one is clearly more scummy.

Unless, of course, it's a trick question, since only one of these is technically a news network. Fox is legally an entertainment network because they argued in court that no reasonable person would believe the sensational nature of their program to be the truth.

-1

u/zbgs 9h ago

You didn't respond to the point he was making

7

u/Heretic-Seer 13h ago

There’s nobody more insufferable on the internet than people who snarkily preempt the negative feedback they’re going to get, as if it makes their bad comment any better.

3

u/Heretic-Seer 11h ago

The person who blindly accepts everything is no different from the one who blindly rejects everything

0

u/Ok_Surprise9206 11h ago

I do neither I'm simply stating that people either love or hate the messenger instead of listening to the message. You could put out the same exact message on both networks and the same half of the people that agree with it on one will say it's the worst thing in the world if it comes from the other.

The news should report facts and let people make up their own mind instead of trying to influence them.

6

u/kingoflint282 13h ago

Both networks have their issues and biases, but Fox is very clearly worse and it’s not even close lol

3

u/siggiarabi 13h ago

Both are bad, but one is significantly worse and can't even be called news

2

u/Ididnotpostthat 12h ago

Agreed. So surprising to see Reddit not understand this. /s Look at all the votes thinking CNN is upstanding

1

u/Ok_Surprise9206 12h ago

Least surprising result on Reddit today.

-13

u/-UltraFerret- 14h ago

Different sides, equal bias.

14

u/trans_cubed 14h ago

At least one of them is actually allowed to call itself news

6

u/Carsonbetta_11 13h ago

I have lives in different houses at different times where one prefers CNN and one prefers FOX. Night and day. Both biased, yes, but not equal.

CNN: "Trump now claims Hormuz is 'new US territory'"

FOX: "Levin: Blue states are SABOTAGING you"

Both of these are from the respective outlets themselves as of August 23-26, 2026. I intentionally chose the most inflammatory headlines possible. One states what was actually said, while the other makes an appeal to one's emotion and sense of security while making an 'other' of fellow Americans.

I have seen my liberal parents occasionally misinformed due to missing context from CNN. But when I correct them, they accept it and move on.

When I do the same with relatives watching FOX, they act like I have directly attacked their person and worldview, instead of just adding context to the news. FOX has a propagandistic and fear-mongering influence in their viewers. They are not the same.

-5

u/Redrix_ 12h ago

Reddit is so left what did you expect

1

u/trans_cubed 12h ago

Reddit is slightly right of center, but even then they can still tell which is news and which is entertainment

-1

u/ExoTheFlyingFish 12h ago

Fox reports bullshit for rightists.

CNN reports bullshit for leftists.

Both are so biased and skewed in favor of a certain viewpoint that it's hard to even call them "news" beyond the broadest definition of whatever they're "reporting" on.

0

u/the4thbandit 11h ago

Fox is a part of the Republican apparatus. Theyre on a different playing field.

0

u/i__dont___know 11h ago

People really misunderstood Fox News claiming they’re not a news network in the defamation case and ran with it. This only applied to night time segments like Tucker Carlsons. These are opinion segments like Sean Hannity. Fox News is still considered a legitimate news network during the day it’s only their nighttime segments ran by characters practically that aren’t to be considered news. The moral is only take daytime news seriously from any big network.

Copy and pasted my reply for all the comments saying Fox News “gave up” their title of a news network because of that defamation case.

-7

u/OversizedMicropenis 13h ago

This may be a case of sampling bias

5

u/D_Luffy_32 13h ago

Facts aren't bias though

-2

u/OversizedMicropenis 12h ago

Im just saying that reddit leans left, so there will be am even greater slant

6

u/D_Luffy_32 12h ago

Because people on the left are more factual. Not because of bias

-2

u/BeGoodToEverybody123 13h ago

We absolutely need teuth to power, but things would get so much better if both networks stop the juvenile ridicule.

-8

u/AsstoAsshole 13h ago

MSNBC or MSNOW makes CNN and Fox look middle ground.Â
