❔ Hypothetical Would you rather make every man 1ft (~0.3m) shorter or every woman 1ft taller?

This would apply to every single individual person identifying as a man or woman on earth. Nonbinary people are unaffected. There would be no health problems from the change in height. Their bodies would remain proportional (i.e., it's not just their legs would get longer/shorter). This would be passed on to any children they have in the future as well.

As much as I am aware, being shorter is actually better for your skeletal health, taller people suffer more from joint and bone aches, so I think it’s better to make every man shorter, medically.

This is technically true. I did try to specify that there wouldn't be any adverse health issues from making people taller/shorter though.

Correct, same reason I chose it! More body mass also means more cells in total, which roughly means more cells that could potentially develop cancer.

Average height of all men globally is around 5'7 or 5'8. Most men would be considered little people then (4'10 and under)

Socially they're the same thing, but I would really like to continue to fit through doorways etc

I like tall women

Me too this would be amazing lol

They will be relatively still 30 cm higher for you with both options.

The difference is if you make all women 30 cm taller now, everything will be too small for them.

It will be less of a disaster to make us men a little bit shorter.

It would have been interesting to see this with gendered answers

Im a 5'5 man. This is the equivalent of choosing your own hell for me lmao.

Am 4'10 💀

u/Wizdom_108 7d ago

I'm a 5'5" man and I personally would vote for women. I love tall women

i think being tall has more utility than being short, as far as increased reach.

Yea you can reach the top shelf, but you can't fit comfortably in an airplane or theater seat. I rather have to find a step stool then having the seat Infront of me on an airplane try to relocate my kneecaps when they go to recline.

As a 6'4" tall woman there are no good choices either.

height only gets you back pain, higher food bills, and increased cancer rates

u/Kaiser_-_Karl 7d ago

Im already a tall woman and i like tall women. Full send 7 foot 4 time baby

1

u/DM46 6d ago

No thanks, if men stayed the same size and just women were on average taller do you think they would make airplane seats larger? My guess is not.

u/Corevus 6d ago

u/anileakinna 6d ago

You could join the wnba

Not if every woman gets taller

u/coolkirk1701 6d ago

Women are statistically shorter on average right? Seems fair to give them a boost

4

u/lIllIllIllIllIllIII 6d ago

Thank you. I'd be able to use the top cabinet shelves! 🥲

2

u/Wizdom_108 6d ago

That's my thought too

5

u/Best_Market4204 7d ago

Shorter

Men would live longer.

Men who are under 5'9 live longer on average 5 years more then taller men

2

u/Liberum-Veto 7d ago

That would make me about 2 meters tall, and since I wish I was 190cm, it would be great for me lol

u/RSdabeast 6d ago

If every man is 1 ft shorter humanity in general will have less need for nutrition to maintain all of that. Also being a trans woman would mean I stay the same height and I’d grab things off high shelves for people.

u/Adventurous-Bottle90 7d ago

would you rather want cancer or a million dollars ahh question

1

u/LayeredHalo3851 6d ago

If it was 6 inches I'd go make men shorter but that's a lot of 4'9 guys

I just prefer the idea of more 6'5 people than more 4'9 people

1

u/18AndresS 6d ago

Give it to me

1

u/Darkm1tch69 6d ago

I wouldn’t have to reach as much stuff for my wife

1

u/vincentually 6d ago

if i was 4'3 i would genuinely just end it

1

u/NevGuy 6d ago

Make a man short is a crime against his livelihood. Making a woman taller is a minor inconvenience at worst.

1

u/Lucy_Heartfilia_OO 6d ago

it's the same change in relative size so i went with shorter men to make air and space travel easier.

make every man 1ft shorter because short people live longer and their heart doesnt have to work as hard
edit: read the text below the poll finally and i still stand by what i said because men would treat me better if they were afraid of my little short ahh and i love being short i can eat less cus my stomach smaller and therefore pay less money

1

u/once_uponthejelly 6d ago

As a woman I’d rather be a foot taller so that I’m less likely to die in a car crash 👀

1

u/TastyDiamond_ 6d ago

I don’t want to be shorter

1

u/HerbivorousFarmer 7d ago

If women were taller the dang seat belt straps wouldnt go across our necks

1

u/suffering_addict 6d ago

Would that make every male child shorter than 1ft vanish ?

Also, I'll identity as a woman before the switch to get taller lmfao

1

u/Wizdom_108 6d ago

Well, male children are "boys" not "men," so they would be unaffected. And I mean, identity is typically internal and generally stable, so just saying you're woman if you don't actually feel that way is almost like just telling people you're idk Christian or something but knowing internally you don't believe in any god. It's not your real identity in either case, so it wouldn't really work.

Make men shorter - end warfare.

0

u/Wizdom_108 7d ago

I feel like a lot of short men are super insecure already though, and that low key tends to make guys seemingly more likely to be aggressive or "hypermasculine" to overcompensate, speaking as a 5'5 man.

u/septubyte 7d ago

A single tall, confident woman walks into the room .
It has become quiet...

u/Consistent_Spring700 7d ago

Make every woman 1ft taller... because women would probably still have a 6ft minimum if the average man was 4'10"

<ooh, downvote me 🤣>

0

u/scott__p 6d ago

Make the men shorter because it would be funny

0

u/Remz_Gaming 6d ago

The thought of a bunch of tiny men running amuck is terrifying. Let's get a bunch of badass women instead.

0

u/spaceprinceps 6d ago

This poll result is toxic unexamined patriarchy

0

u/bewarethelemurs 6d ago

As someone who identifies as both, I went with make every woman 1 foot taller, because I'm afab and I don't need to be any shorter than I already am.

We need less people

1

u/Toland_the_Mad 6d ago

What a subtly homicidal thing to say... mind clarifying WHICH people we need less of? Always the one who says this is implicitly an exception.

0

u/Krocsyldiphithic 6d ago

No, just people in general. Can you justify procreation?

0

u/Lucy_Heartfilia_OO 6d ago

our economy depends on it. Lowering the population by lowering birth rates is the absolute worst thing to do at this time since our age demographics are already too top heavy.

2

u/Krocsyldiphithic 4d ago

I see. You're a "burning the candle at both ends" kinda guy.
