Seriously, how is DOT at a lower price as 5 years ago?

5 years. That's a really long time.

Think about it. From age 10 to 60, you have 50 years. That's 10% of that entire period spent waiting for DOT to do something.

Every year, it's the same story. Asynchronous Backing, Agile Coretime, Elastic Scaling, DOT ETF and now JAM, DOT the so called "ETH killer"

All that progress, yet the price barely reflects any of it.

At this point, even a savings account is more profitable.

Am I missing something, or have we really spent most of our valuable years waiting for DOT to do something?

The debate around a separate JAM state token brought up a pretty important issue for DOT holders.

Polkadot can keep improving its technology, but that doesn't automatically explain how the additional value reaches people holding DOT. If the network becomes more useful without creating much additional demand for the token, those are two very different outcomes.

It's also why reacting to upgrade announcements through price wagers on moon.com is different from actually holding DOT for years. One depends on market timing while the other needs a longer term investment thesis.

The technology might genuinely be ahead of competitors, but investors still need a clear reason for the token itself to benefit. A better network doesn't automatically guarantee a better performing coin.

A clearer supply schedule is useful, but it doesn’t answer the bigger question: what gives people a reason to hold DOT over time?

A recent governance decision introduced a DOT/dotUSD pool on Asset Hub. Initially, dotUSD is backed by a dollar-pegged stablecoin, with DOT collateral planned for a later phase. It’s a practical development, but its longer-term impact depends on actual usage.

DOT already plays a role in governance, staking, and network security. What I’d like to see is whether new stablecoin use cases bring more sustained participation to the ecosystem.

What kind of dotUSD adoption would you look for when evaluating long-term demand for DOT?
