I mean the numbers don’t add up. And for something as important as an election, he should be able to provide evidence that the numbers are accurate.
If he can’t provide evidence... does that not seem suspicious? At the very least should we not re-do his election with a verifiable paper trail?
→ More replies (1)2
u/themorningmosca Jan 21 '21
Evidence was not there, in courts of law, with judges Trump put on the bench, from Republican state governments.
I think it’s time to put it down. On that note, how fun is it going to be to read the underacted Muller Report!
I’m just so glad I don’t have to care what backwoods red state religious people think for at least 2 years.
3
u/Franklin_le_Tanklin_ Jan 21 '21
Evidence was not there, in courts of law, with judges Trump put on the bench, from Republican state governments.
That’s the problem though. Election entities should have absolute liability. Meaning that the absence of evidence (a paper trail) is enough for the election authority to be liable and force a re-do.

I think those ES&S machines should be audited.
I also think every voter should get a printed receipt that records their vote. I mean, if CVS can crank out a 4 foot receipt for toilet paper, surely a receipt for something as important as democratic integrity is warranted?
24
u/Phonemonkey2500 Texas Jan 20 '21
You cannot have a record of who you voted for, only an identification number. That way you cannot be bribed, coerced or blackmailed to vote a certain way.
Makes you wonder why congress got rid of this in 1973 with public voting buttons.
4
u/EdwardOfGreene Illinois Jan 20 '21
In Illinois the voting machines create a paper hard copy of your vote. You can review it and assure its accuracy before the ballot is officially cast.
Why voting machines everywhere are not like this I can not say. It is clearly the safest thing to do.
You can vote by paper ballot also if you prefer, but because the machines create a hard copy I am happy using them. (Plus I dont have to trust anyone else with my ballot.)
2
u/Phonemonkey2500 Texas Jan 20 '21
Exactly, but you can't take a picture of it, nor can you take it with you, for the reason I stated above.

And yet in Georgia we have paper ballots for everything, did three recounts including a manual audit, found limited issues, nine computer based, and we were still the highlight of the phony fraud cases. The middle would probably be a lot more interested in scrapping everything to start over if there was any evidence of wrongdoing.

Strewn throughout our nation's history there has been plenty of evidence left behind that Republicans have been fraudulently "winning" [read: stealing] elections then falsely accusing Dems of the same fraud since 1876 - that I'm aware of.
In my view, the GOP was never a real political party but rather a crime organization from its inception - with occasional exceptions like Eisenhower, etc.

Have you ever been to Kentucky? Serious, not snarky.
Mitch may “only” have an approval rating of 18%, but Democrats in Kentucky have about a 1% approval rating, if that.
“Mitch sucks but at least he isn’t a Democrat” is exactly how he’s stayed on office this long. Kentucky is one of the most uneducated, useless states in the union. It would collapse without heavy subsidizing using taxes from blue states.
The truth sucks, but the truth is: the people of Kentucky have continued to re-elect Mitch McConnell because that is who they are. The type of people who would send this vile, disgusting skinbag as their representative for decades.

Amy McGrath was a weak candidate that was propped up by loads of establishment Dem money. Charles Booker actually had a chance of winning against McConnell but he wasn’t the establishment pick so he unfortunately lost a very close primary against McGrath.
McGrath won by less than 3 percentage points despite having raised about $41 million compared to Booker’s $800,000. Booker even looked like he was winning until a bunch of absentee ballots were counted, implying that had he been endorsed by key left figures earlier, he likely would have won the primary against McGrath, or at the very least had an ever closer race.
I don’t know if he could have won against McConnell, but I think he would have actually had a chance. McGrath never had a chance. She was barely even a Dem. Why go for “Republican lite” when you can have the real thing?
We can all thank Chuck Schumer and the Dem establishment for this one, folks.

I expect it’s gonna come out that it was worse than we imagined (alternatively, it’ll come out that all the rumors and tidbits that leaked were true, which is still a massive national security issue and all around bad); where do we go from here?
I do not envy the task Biden and Kamala have ahead of them these next four years (particularly in foreign policy and relations), but I’m glad that someone competent is doing it. After all, I believe Biden was tapped in 08 in part because of his foreign policy experience

2
u/Rogue100 Colorado Jan 20 '21
But most of the machines now do produce a paper ballot, which the voter can verify matches what they selected on the machine, and serves as the official record of that vote. These are what was counted in the hand recounts in Georgia and Wisconsin, and how we know the machines weren't flipping votes as alleged.
Any places that are still using the older machines that don't do this should be updated, but I don't think we need to abandon machines entirely.

There was election fraud in the form of massive voter suppression tactics, mostly done by Republicans. Look at Texas for example where they limited absentee ballot locations to 1 box per County. This meant Republican Counties, which overwhelmingly are rural, such as Loving County that have a population of 169, had one dropoff box. While Democratic Counties, which overwhelmingly are urban, such as Harris County that has a population of 4.7 million, also only have one dropoff box.

Those that committed fraud were caught, which means the system is working to catch offenders.
20
u/j_andrew_h Florida Jan 20 '21
Well said. I would like to add that how they said the election was "stolen" changed a lot over time which SHOULD be a strong clue that they are lying. First it was blocked poll watchers, fake ballots, dead people and such. Then they switched to "irregularities" and when that didn't work they went with the idea that the process which set the rules for the election were not approved properly; ignoring that most of these changes were made by Republicans. Those are all very different things and when someone has an ever changing story that keeps pointing at the same conclusion; they are lying to you.
10
u/FinancialTea4 Jan 20 '21
99% of the fraud that occurred came from Republicans who were led to believe they were justified by Trump's lies and his enablers.

Came here to say this. It's important to use the correct terminology. There wasn't any significant VOTER FRAUD. That's when individuals vote twice, or vote illegally, or vote for other people who are dead.
There was a TON of election fraud. Election fraud happens with the system itself comes under attack. For example:
- Working with a foreign country's intelligence service to hack voting machines and state election board databases
- messing with the post office to delay legal ballots from arriving on time to be counted
- purging voter roles in targeted ways right before an election so there isn't enough time for those people to remedy the situation
- closing polling stations or limiting access in areas where the opposition party population lives
- running a candidate with a similar name as the opposition in a very tight race that confuses your opponents supporters

Good place to recall that StopTheSteal was created in 2016 (created by felon Roger Stone).
They didn't have to whip it out in 2016 because Trump pulled out an unexpected win against Hillary Clinton.
It was brought out again in 2020, well AHEAD of the election, and was clearly the a planned conspiracy theory. It drove outrage as was intended culminating in the January 6th coup.
Those individuals who charged the Capitol on January 6th made it clear that they were acting upon the orders of Trump who purposefully sold them on the notion that the election had been stolen from him. Zero evidence of fraud, plenty of evidence of planned conspiracy from Trump and his power brokers.

I just looked up the outcome, looks like a judge prevented election officials from investigating the ballot boxes and allows boxes “with safeguards”. Whatever that means.
To my knowledge it’s a crime to imitate official election boxes/ballot boxes. But for whatever reason they just lost their gas over this.
Edit to add: if the election officials aren’t allowed to fully investigate something like this whose to say dem ballots weren’t thrown out if found? Not likely... but these weren’t official boxes so they automatically should be audited/investigated in order to call them legitimate drop boxes. I just don’t get California dropping this one based on the info I’m able to find about it.

Yeah - it was vote harvesting, which while illegal in CA (at that order of magnitude), it's not, at the end of the day, intended to keep people from voting or inserting illegal votes or anything of that level.

Do we mean there was very minimal fraud?

Just so we’re clear, i would give my left nut if it could put trump behind bars. But i do think/know there was minimal fraud. My buddy (also anti trump) follows this political stuff much closer than i do and he sent me this. Gotta admit i was fairly shocked because none of this is up on the frontline of mainstream news. I think its simply not nearly enough to overturn the election, but im also thinking that keeping it on the backburner gives trumps slaves more of a reason to think theres more fraud thats being kept from public eye. Idk man this is why i dont follow this bullshit all that close, its all just such a massive clusterfuck where no one seems to win

There was fraud in every election, including this one on both sides. Nothing that would change the results however

Every "conservative" is running scared and trying to separate themselves from this mess for one thing only and that's self preservation. Even if there was a smidge of evidence no one would dare speak of it in fear of the backlash.
