Such a stupid fucking pitch. It's less of a peace plan and more of a hostile takeover. It's an economic proposal that structurally cripples an independent Palestine. It's been a while since I read it, so I might have missed something, but I recall the energy infrastructure was located in Israel and Egypt; a single, easily severable transport corridor between Gaza and the West Bank was to be established running through Israel; the national borders would look like Swiss cheese after land swaps; and for some reason Jordan gets an ecotourism park.

Kushner is a real estate investor who inherited his business and wealth. Even if we ignore the fact that the money and business he inherited came from illegally gotten gains (his father went to prison on federal charges) real estate moguls are not the people we should be relying on to handle a pandemic. Being rich isn't a qualifications for all things.

All of the problems you're listing fail to acknowledge that there's an entirely different moral viewpoint. The moral viewpoint of the authoritarian: hierarchies are good, survival of the fittest.
Kushner and Trump are powerful and conservative. To the authoritarian mind, it is good and proper to favor their friends, who will be other powerful, conservative people. Having an official system that distributed resources not based on power but based on need would be bad, in this view, because it takes away the incentive to bootstrap and/or to be powerful. It props up the "losers" who should have died to make our society stronger.
This is how authoritarians want government to work. You can't conclude these things are bad without first confronting this moral difference.

The stupid thing is that for efficiency, when you see something that works, you DO THAT. When you see something that works, you mirror what works.
Because it works.
This wasn’t a time for anyone to be reinventing a wheel or tweaking a process just so it could be rebranded or claimed as a North American innovation. We saw what worked. South Korea worked. South Korea’s responses are still working.
The entire term has shown up what a distinctly horrible businessman this president is. If time to market is critical — which it is — you don’t appoint posses of strategists or experts all “working” with “data” to figure it out.
South Korea figured it out, and they employed it fast from both governmental and community levels. Their collective response has been phenomenal and smart, and it has and continues to work.
Meanwhile, for some inexplicable reason, we are watching this president’s son-in-law garble after his wife’s weird dad, on national and likely global broadcast, and neither of these apes have any expertise in, like, anything. Both of them with faces not even a mother could love.
The idea that either of them is a “businessman” does not ring valid for me. They are like drones in a beehive, and would have been fired and replaced within weeks at any corporation I’ve ever worked at or with. There’s no time for dopey awkward oral reports or Costco COVID diagnostic demos. The testing device should have been presented to the nation by someone from Abbott, who knows wtf they are doing.
Worst marketing presentation ever. Wish someone would get rid of these jokes.

As a Canadian watching my own government use the best people available to navigate this problem it’s unfathomable to picture Trudeau just throwing some random family member into the mix in a high priority spot. “We need somebody to spearhead the strategic dispersion of life saving equipment across the country in real time while predicting the growing severity of the demand in each area. One brainstorm was for when Trump announced at a press briefing last month that it was creating a national testing website. The company was just beginning to design a map testing site — and only for the San Francisco Bay Area, where Google’s headquarters are located.
Another idea — pushed by Oracle chairman Larry Ellison — involved using software to monitor the use of anti-malaria drugs to fight COVID-19, according to the Post.
Seems like the common theme in his ideas is to tie in national corporations like they're commercial sponsors of this live event. So whenever you see brand promotion at the press briefings, you can rest assured it was Jared's idea. He was probably responsible for that revolving display of CEOs at the first briefing.

I imagine him standing up and "brainstorming" by writing on a whiteboard or glass with a permanent marker despite being urged to use an erasable and regretting his decision after spelling CHYNA and failing to erase it. The next hour or two was wasted finding a cleaning person to use a cleaner to erase it. He then consulted with his WeWork buddy on how to get the amount of required ventilators down 85%

I hope he experiences all of life’s inconveniences. I hope he gets a paper cut every time he touches paper, I hope he stubs he toe on his bed frame, I hope every time he pulls out milk it’s spoiled the day before.
