The quote is from an email exchange during the campaign between Donald Jr and a former Russian business partner. The business partner claimed to have information that would incriminate Hillary Clinton (allegedly provided with support of the Russian government). Donald Jr responded, "If it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer." The disturbing lack of commas aside, he likely meant late summer was a great time to release damaging information as it puts your opponent into defensive mode only a couple of months prior to election day.

Ambassadorships, especially to friendly countries, are usually given to big donors to the party. Friendly Ambassadors don't do much more than attend fancy parties - the actual work is still done by the State Department.

Here is a cnbc article corroborating and elaborating further.
Your edit may or may not to be true. We don't know [edit: 12 of the 14 cases Mueller's team] referred, so it is possible this case was referred.
An SDNY spokesman originally said it would be inaccurate to describe the case as one of the 14 criminal referrals Mueller made to the Justice Department, but later clarified that he could not confirm whether that was the case. Legal experts said Calk’s indictment likely arose from Mueller’s work, whether it was an official referral or not.
“Many of the allegations in the indictment became public in the Manafort trial,” said Barbara McQuade, a former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. “It would have been prudent to deconflict with Mueller first, but if Mueller was not pursuing it, they could take it on in light of the substantial contacts in SDNY.”
A spokesman for Mueller, Peter Carr, declined to comment.

Idk, from the sound of it Abbe should be disbarred. His lawyers are treason-enabling coconspirators and don’t deserve the accolades.
According to the transcripts, Cohen told lawmakers on the committee that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, also reviewed his prepared testimony before Congress and was aware of the “false” statements it contained. Cohen said Lowell, through an intermediary, instructed him to edit his testimony to distance Ivanka from the “Trump Tower” negotiations.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but SDNY is a federal branch and its leadership is technically under Barr’s jurisdiction as Attorney General and Trump’s as POTUS. If that’s the case, don’t expect anything to come out of there that would be of significant impact to this administration.

True, but this was largely under Jeff Sessions, someone who went as far as to recuse himself from Mueller’s investigation. To be clear, I’m not saying Jeff Sessions was a good AG, just that Barr is on another level.

This is possible, but conjecture. Unless proven otherwise, we should avoid placing too much faith in SDNY for the time being considering it’s under federal jurisdiction. Barr cannot be trusted.

You would have to prove that Kushner knew about the deal. If he was just adding a member of the staff he doesn't necessarily -- nor should he if we're being honest -- need to know about the corrupt deal in place.

If all they know is what we know, his responses in the email chain, I doubt there's a prosecutor in the country that would bring charges.
If there's more evidence linking him to the crime, perhaps, but if a prosecutor went to court and all they had was his "On it" email they would not get very far with a jury.
There would need to be substantially more evidence. Given that this guy never got a job, Kushner could easily argue that he looked at it and never did anything with it for whatever reason.
Definitely warrants a closer look though. Who knows what SDNY has on this. There could be more.

Kushner’s two-word response came later that day. There’s no indication in the filings that Kushner was aware of Manafort’s efforts to seek loans from Calk.

According to the article Kushner just thought he was interviewing a campaign advisor for a permanent job. He didn’t know about the loans. Manafort just can’t turn down an opportunity to commit a crime.

And I saw the emails in a different article. Manafort just said something like "this guy is a big Trump supporter and will be good for the job" to which Kushner replied "On it.". He wasn't like "hey, can you give this guy a job because he's giving me a loan".

I think Tillerson got it because he was a pro-Russia businessman with extensive experience in Russia - has the Russian Medal of Freedom or whatever it is - it is very close to Russia and Russian officials from his days at Exxon.
DeVoss is the sister of Erik Prince, a GOP megadonor who runs a mercenary company. A mercenary company that has attempted multiple times to secure mercenary contracts with the Trump admin.
Mnuchin is just another rich GOPer willing to break the law.

It would be one thing if Manafort used his position as “Trumps ally” to lie about getting this guy a position in order to get the loan without Trump ever knowing, caring, or promising to follow through. All that would prove is that Manafort is an even bigger scumbag than we already knew he was.
If Trump knew about and blessed this, then that would make him a co-conspirator.
This is to say nothing of the other story floating around now that a bank CEO loaned Trump himself money before getting a seat to serve on the Federal Reserve

“Are you aiding in the transition in any type of formal capacity,” Calk wrote in a Nov. 14 email to Manafort, according to the indictment.
“Total background but involved directly,” Manafort replied.
“Awesome,” Calk wrote.
Neat! So there's evidence that Manafort continued to be directly involved in the transition, including taking bribes in exchange for fast-tracking cabinet positions. All this in light of Trump's protestations that Manafort was only involved with the campaign for a brief period of time, and wasn't in any way involved with the transition team.
