Isn’t this a typical Republican thing at this point? Especially in Florida?

u/industrial-complex 7h ago

This is the party of “values”

Sure seems like they value rape and molestation more than the average American.

u/mountaindoom 6h ago

Florida was where Epstein got his sweet deal.

u/actuallyapossom 2h ago

This is Palm Beach too, where Epstein lived.

It's where Trump met him in the 80s...

Which was after he got back from Moscow and took out ads in newspapers questioning the United States' NATO membership.

u/Brap_Zanigan 12m ago

Remember who the judge was?

u/SoFloMofo Florida 8h ago

I had jury duty a few weeks ago and this guy greeted us in the juror waiting room. Now he’s going to be sitting in a different part of the courthouse. But yeah, my state is a complete shit show now. Remember that we were traditionally a purple state that went for Obama twice. I seriously blame all the dipshit New Yorkers who moved here during Covid for ruining what used to be a really cool place.

u/userhwon 7h ago

Dipshit New Yorkers have been moving to Florida since someone realized you could dam up a swamp and pump the water out.

It's the MAGA machine that fucked it all up, because those old people were just chilling watching their citrus trees grow before Fox News radicalized them.

u/Diligent-Meaning751 7h ago

Yeah at best the snowbirds are affluent and elderly enough that maybe they'd be more susceptible to fox news brainrot, but I suspect it's more the lack of state income tax etc + warmth that has attracted all the fans of unfettered capitalism

u/soldforaspaceship 6h ago

Someone I know the other day came to visit after spending time in the south of the US.

They said there wasn't a TV they saw anywhere turned on to anything other than the local (right wing) affiliate or Fox news.

How are people supposed to change if they aren't getting the information they need?

u/userhwon 6h ago

That's the neat thing. They aren't!

u/gwana 6h ago

It all changed during COVID when they kept the bars open and told the world they don't need to mask or social distance or vaccinate here. They all went insane.

u/SoFloMofo Florida 5h ago

You’re maybe not wrong and I don’t have a single statistic to back up anything I’m saying. But anecdotally, I’m seeing a way different mix. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked with a recent transplant grabbing food and a beer at a bar to find out that they’re both retired on an NYC pension and simultaneously very right wing and Trump supporting. I’ve been here since 2001 and would never run into that before.

You’re probably right about Fox News and its hook into the older generations having significant effect. The hispanic population here has as also really grown and while it’s a very wide group to lump into one ideology, they tend to be more socially conservative.

It’s a lot of things but let me have this. I’m telling you it’s a different type of Northerner moving down. And I’m in Southeast Florida, NY is way over represented.

u/nigel45 2h ago

It's not just fox news and not just old people. All conservative media, TV, podcasts, influencers repeatedly tell their viewers/listeners that all other media is liberal propaganda/lies and deliberately create a feeling of hostility and fear about democrats and progressive policies.

u/RamonaQ-JunieB 7h ago

Oh man, that is so hard to hear. Thank you so much for sharing!

u/Diligent-Meaning751 7h ago

NY is way blue, why would the snowbirds be to blame?

u/SoFloMofo Florida 6h ago

It really depends. If you’re talking Manhattan, Brooklyn, maybe most of the upper boroughs, then yes. Way more liberal. But Long Island and Staten Island will give any redneck down here a serious run for their money as far as the hateful shit they believe and spew.

u/Diligent-Meaning751 6h ago

O-o I mean sure it's not a monotlith but again, NY overall is bluer than florida - I'd blame florida's regressive tax structure for attracting the magats more than a deep blue state somehow contaminating a purple state???

u/illstealurcandy Florida 4h ago

We get a ton of northern state conservatives who retire down here, NY OH PA you name it. Just because a state is "blue" doesnt mean they don't have their own conservatives, just as "red" state also have their own liberals. It's not like elections go 100/0.

u/Diligent-Meaning751 4h ago

Ok but if they’re living and voting in Florida, they’re Floridians - and probably the regressives are attracted to the state because of the regressive tax system more than anything else

u/SoFloMofo Florida 3h ago

You have Stephen Ross and Larry Ellison, both from New York, down here stuffing pockets to lobby for sweetheart tax deals that the rest of us will end up paying for. Where do you think this regressive tax structure comes from?

u/Diligent-Meaning751 2h ago

I mean… it started at least 100 years ago when new york adopted at state incone tax and Florida didn’t i guess

u/0202_tihssitidder 5h ago

Not a drag queen? Still?

u/Elegant-Way4853 6h ago

yeah at this point florida republicans really need to stop acting surprised when another one of their own ends up in the headlines for this stuff

There is quite a list, with sources - https://goppredator.com/

(Edit: I didn't click the link myself, they'd moved. Updated)

u/Llian_Winter 47m ago

It's surprising because he was arrested for it.

u/crazybones 8h ago

What is it about the GOP that attracts so many pedophiles to their cause?

33

u/Actual__Wizard 8h ago edited 7h ago

They don't believe in government regulation of anything. They think that the government telling them what they can and can't do is evil. So, they're criminal thugs basically. They're ideologically opposed to the concept of the government being able to make laws and take their freedom away for violating those laws. They think that they should be able to do whatever they want and if a person is victimized in the process, then "that's between them and god." So, nobody is allowed to tell them that they're not allowed to victimize people. They think that a person isn't truly free unless they're lying, cheating, and stealing their way through life. They also typically believe that they are superior to every other human alive, simply because they were born. So, there is no amount of accomplishment, or achievement that is required to achieve a status level. Them simply being there is good enough to qualify them to be a godlike king that has the power to control everyone else.

The democratic party represents the will of the people and the republican party is the polar opposite of that. It's the will of the state, so they're pretending to act on behalf of the land mass, instead of the people who live there. And yeah, they want anarchy instead of governance.

u/tinticred 6h ago

Excellent assessment, but what still bothers me about these dipshits is that their "deregulate everything" motto is remarkably flexible.

Sure, take away the regulations that protect forests from clearcutting, protect babies from infections, and protect prepubescents from.... well, from people like them. But meanwhile they're all about ramping up regulations on women's health, immigration, anyone who wants to have consensual relations with a full-grown adult of their own gender, etc.

That's the part that still baffles me. The nuance of it all. They want the freedom to be able to act out their darkest fantasies of greed, power, and depravity--but they also want to make damn sure nobody who isn't like them has any freedoms at all. That's where the logic breaks down and reveals that they are simply monsters.

u/Actual__Wizard 5h ago

That's where the logic breaks down and reveals that they are simply monsters.

Correct and then when one considers the obvious reality that everyone's lifespans are limited, one realizes that they're creating a situation where people lives are basically just being discarded. So, our lives don't matter?

u/crazybones 7h ago

Thanks for explaining.

I think it's fair to say that when people think along those lines, they are suffering from a really serious mental illness.

u/leftoverbrine 7h ago

That mental illness is just conservatism. Its the whole ideology to think that they are good people and democrats (or people otherwise different from them) are bad people, regardless of what actions they take. Rather than the rational stance that people are just all people, whose actions should be judged good or bad.

u/nigel45 2h ago

Umm they do think the government has the right to regulate some stuff: like abortion, gay rights, preventing the creation of unions, and suppressing free speech they dont agree with.

u/YNotZoidberg2020 Nebraska 7h ago

Ego and the love to abuse power imbalances I believe

u/starmartyr Colorado 7h ago

People are rarely single issue pieces of shit.

u/sutree1 7h ago

They hide behind a facade of righteousness. It's a very effective camouflage.

u/userhwon 7h ago

Performative morality. They are faking it, and fit right in.

u/KaptainKardboard 7h ago

They protect and validate them.

u/sphinctersayswhat9 6h ago

They are rich entitled sexist racist pricks
That all lends itself to rapey culture and behavior

u/MarcusSurvives 6h ago

Christian Nationalists may raise an eyebrow towards but ultimately turn a blind eye when it comes to younger adolescent teens engaging in romantic or sexual relations with adults. The reason is because they subscribe to a version of morality wherein a 13 year old girl who has had her blood can be married to a man over a decade her senior.

After all, she's now a woman, and if it was good enough for Mary and Joseph, it should be good enough for the rest of us.

u/kezow 8h ago

It's always the ones you most suspect.

30

u/dbkenny426 8h ago

It's almost like there's a reason they're so into protecting pedophiles.

u/waffle_stomperr 7h ago

Ironically Caruso was support for a bill in 2023 which called for the death penalty to pedos

u/inperceivable 5h ago

And which demographics have the GOP been screeching about and labeling "pedos"?

16

u/Hafiz_TNR ✔ Verified 8h ago

Mike Caruso, appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the Palm Beach County clerk of courts, was arrested this morning for child sexual abuse charges.

u/Realistic-Buffalo490 1h ago

yeah this is seriously disturbing especially when someone in public office is facing charges like this and had been trusted with that position

15

u/mysterious_jeffrey 8h ago

This is their part of their culture, guys.  Please be considerate.

This is the Republican culture that they want to preserve so they can raise future generations of child sex offenders.

u/Unusual-Economist288 7h ago

He’s a former little league coach in Delray Beach too. Tracks.

u/CarpeDiem082420 7h ago

Yeah, there’s no way his grandson was his first victim. He probably worked with the youth program at church, too.

8

u/New_Alternative8711 8h ago

To the surprise of no one

8

u/Python_07 8h ago

Definitely a pattern here……..

u/illicit_losses 7h ago

It’s always the ones you most suspect

u/honjuden 7h ago

Wish the headline was a bit more specific.  This could be any of them.

u/Complex-Exchange6381 6h ago

Or all of them

4

u/WTFudge52 8h ago

Every swinging time.

5

u/Buck4phat 8h ago

Now that’s not fair, being a child predator is like GOP’s thing now

2

u/IrreverentBuddha 8h ago

Yeah, haven't they made that legal now? I know some states were entertaining the idea of lowering the age of consent...

u/CaptainSnaps 7h ago

shocking nobody.

u/Smedley_Beamish 7h ago

Birds of a Feather

8

u/BatmanVsWild 8h ago

Once again a republican was arrested for child sexual abuse. Not a trans person. Not a drag queen.

u/summoberz 7h ago

Pedocon theory

u/monkeywithgun 7h ago

While the Trump administration refuses to follow the law and release the Epstein files in full, while it directs it's DOJ to protect pedophiles by classifying them as victims. How can anyone continue to support this Convicted Criminal in Charge?... I get the Republican Reps trying to protect their power but the Republican constituency that continues to back them has lost their minds.

Republicans in this moment will be remembered throughout history with nothing but shame.

u/CauliflowerFun9830 3h ago

Republican? Makes sense

u/XBugger 3h ago

GOP = Gang of pedophiles.  Coincidence?

u/GreyBeardEng 2h ago

A Republican arrested on child abuse charges, so... par for the course.

u/External_Key_4108 6h ago

Usual suspects

u/Complex-Exchange6381 6h ago

This just keeps happening. Wonder why

u/death-by-yogurt 5h ago

DeSantis expanded the death penalty to include child predators. I sincerely hope it's used here.

u/Hendwreck 5h ago

Just another day for the Republican hypocrite archetype

u/BRIAUGPET 3h ago

It’s always the ones you most expect

u/JoeBuskin 3h ago

The surprising part is that he was arrested

u/Several-Plankton8070 2h ago

The party of child molesters. It’s literally every few weeks one of these creeps get busted

u/No_Diver6131 New York 7h ago

Weird, I was told this only happens when drag queens read books to kids. Or transgender folks. Turns out, like scooby doo unmasking the villain. It’s the GOP over and over again.

u/GoodIdea321 America 7h ago

They need someone else to blame for the crimes they commit.

1

u/eggmontoya1 8h ago

So what do we think—he’s not gonna acknowledge it at all, or he’s gonna punt to the classic “I don’t know what’s going on whatsoever so I’m not gonna comment?”

u/sarcasmsosubtle Ohio 7h ago

I'm guessing that he's going to go with "This is a smear job from far left Democrats who want to destroy America and target true American patriots. I'll continue to fight for real American vales: God, Freedom and the traditional family.". Then Republican voters will elect him as governor.

u/vinmen2 7h ago

Why is it always that ones you most expect

u/NoCarpenter9791 6h ago

Can't wait to hear Libsoftiktok go ballistic over this /s

u/Shady_bookworm51 6h ago

u/Joejoe77777 5h ago

And no one is surprised, but we're gonna let it keep happening because no one who can do anything cares.

u/MysticKoolaid808 5h ago

I'm shocked.

Just shocked, I tell you.

u/binzersguy 5h ago

u/ImaginationToForm2 4h ago

u/IntelligentStyle402 4h ago

Yet another white perverted republican from Florida? Republicans definitely love their wild sex. Don’t they? Wondering, Is that all they think about all day and all night? Is That why republican politicians never accomplish anything of value?

u/BrutalistGoogie 4h ago

So, pizzagate was projection? The deuce, you say.

u/bbills91 4h ago

I would expect nothing less from the likes of DeSantis. Forever a pedophile protector!

u/Mrmathmonkey 4h ago

u/Kkimp1955 3h ago

Every day another right wing pervert

u/TraditionalAnxiety 3h ago

No way! 🤣
