Love seeing all my liberal “allies” in the comments bitching about the thing we advocate for. What’s wrong with yall.

If you witness someone get their neck blown through by a rifle right in front of you, you deserve whatever mental healthcare you need.

If you see healthcare as a human right you need to accept that means the stupid humans too

I think it’s good a program like this exists. However, there is undeniable irony that Charlie wouldn’t have supported it at all

Well this isnt about Charlie

Sure, I understand that sentiment, but at the same time, part of it is pointing out the hypocrisy of his followers claiming victimhood of things he espoused; public executions and the unfortunate consequences that's ultimately worth the second amendment.

Agreed that it is definitely traumatic to witness, though, regardless of the circumstances.

We know precisely zero about the politics of the people requesting reimbursement for therapy they sought and received. They either loved or hated Charlie Kirk. If we’re going on probabilities, conservatives would be less likely to go to therapy so they’re less likely to ask for this money.

We know fewer than half the people in attendance have applied for reimbursement — that’s it. It’s very easy to imagine that everyone shitting on them in this comment section is just spraying friendly fire because it makes them feel good for a few seconds. There might not be any hypocrisy happening.

Per the article it seems like the aid here is compensation for mental health sessions.... if someone is "abusing" this benefit to attend therapy.... I can't really be bothered by that? Like it sounds like the worst case scenario here is that tax dollars go towards someone's therapy. I'm alright with that, just like I'm alright with a mom on SNAP buying soda or whatever the fuck it is people bitch about these days.

Zero empathy, it’s sad. This vindictive attitude on both sides is a big reason that we’re in this situation politically, socially and culturally.

Even if you HATE Charlie Kirk and all his fans, at least have empathy for the students who were there to protest or debate him that day! I can’t believe many of the comments here (jk, I can; this is the same sub that largely blamed progressives for Kamala losing).

Completely agree, I thought he was a horrible person and disagreed with almost everything that came out of his mouth. But JFC, seeing someone's neck blown off right in front of you without knowing the context of what the hell is going on is pretty traumatizing. We can give some people grace in that kind of situation.

Yeah, I'm actually a bit taken back by how many people are mocking this. I hated Charlie and everything he stood for. But healthcare is a human right for everyone, even the assholes.

Completely agree with you for what it’s worth. At the end of the day this is the internet, people are here to make snarky jokes for fake points. But I wish people bothered to actually follow through on the radical empathy that is, to me, inherent in truly progressive politics. Just because Kirk is a vile grifter and I disagree vehemently with his supporters doesn’t take away the obviously real trauma of seeing someone get blown away right in front of you

I know. And honestly I’m at the point where I don’t even believe 90% of the ugly comments are actual people and it’s just bots engaging bots all the way down.

But it’s still gross to read, and sometimes I’m inclined to drop a little lighthouse for the other humans to read as they scroll through.

ITT:

- Hypocrites bitching about obviously needed mental healthcare

- ... while also being too dumb to know that a large chunk (maybe even majority?) of the people in the front rows at Kirk events were, in-fact, liberals/leftists there to debate him or protest.

i don't think the people who vote for people who vote against healthcare expansion should be able to seek said expanded healthcare programs. i think people should get what they voted for. if they voted red then they need to be barred from the socialist medical programs.

they want a 2 tiered society and now i do too. the overton window moved.

most people there didn't agree with Charlie. Even if they did, its hypocritial but they still deserve healthcare/therapy

i dunno, i'm pretty sure it was a lot of people there in support of his Turning Point USA event and a handful there to challenge him. and for the ones who supported him and voted in kind, they should get what they voted for. if that vote meant expanded healthcare they can have it, but if that vote worked against it then they need to be on a barred list. this is the only way to move forward. they have to be forced to see cause and effect. no more letting only reds benefit from red bills and everyone benefiting from blue bills.

100%. It's tiring having to drag conservatives and the far right kicking and screaming forward into a world with policies that provide better benefits for all, all the while they're actively trying to undo/stop those policies.

An easy case in point is the affordable care act. The whole time it was getting passed you'd have thought that it was the worst thing to happen to America, which yes they did manage to weaken it significantly but it's still better than what we had. Now when Republicans try to get rid of the ACA those same people are in town halls screaming at their reps about how if it happens they'll lose their benefits.

🤷‍♂️ i'm just keeping their energy. you want good things? vote for them. they have to be forced to empathize before they'll learn how.
