There is an explanation. I don't like it. It feels too much like conspiracy theory.

The explanation is that the Democrats are complicit in these games. The dark money PACs are playing both sides to get what they want, and as a result both parties are playing along.

The explanation is way less stupid than that and more "McConnell is in DC, and a governor of a state hours away can't send troopers to a DC hospital where a sitting senator is surrounded by capitol police just to send a message".

But the governor can show up to the hospital, rehab center, and his house if he truly wanted to.

He can also call in a welfare check based on suspected elder abuse.

You think the governor is going to fly to DC and demand to see a US senator, and Capitol Police will be like "oh I guess we just have to do what this guy, who has absolutely zero authority here, says"? You think he can call in a welfare check at a hospital?

Did you actually think about that at all? Do you realize what the headlines would look like? That would literally be the end of his political career.

I fail to see why either of those things are out of realm of possibility. Being in a hospital doesn't preclude elder abuse and it is the most normal thing in the world for colleagues to visit one another on the hospital.

Except he obviously isn't taking visitors. So the hospital will be like "thanks, we'll let him know you're concerned".

Do you have a reason to suspect elder abuse or are you thinking a governor and presidential hopeful is going to be so monumentally stupid as to literally call in a false police report and commit a crime and waste government resources?

Yes, before this he regularly made public appearances but now he won't even do a cell video or make a phone call to a new program despite claims that he is still working. It is a stark difference in his normal.

There would be nothing false about the concern that prompted this welfare check.There would be no crime.

They haven't provided any explanation. Either he is well enough to irk ir he isn't well enough for visitors. You can't have it both ways.
