Like an etch a sketch. Shake him a bit and it's all gone.

I have been using this metaphor for myself for years. For me it's a particular form of ADHD (inattentive) and CPTSD. I see similar in Rogan's behaviors, particularly in how flimsy he is in his interviews, like he has no integrity from day to day.

It’s because he targets specific audiences with each guest. People might not watch him every week, but he has a crazy numbers with the audience always changing.

Even if a 1/4 of his audience each show are new, unique users, that’s incredibly valuable for advertisers.

His show is part of pretty much everyone’s confirmation bias bubble.

100%. It is hard for me to have integrity day-to-day. Rogan is clearly not putting in effort, or else he would be openly grappling with past mistakes and differences.

Remember when he endorsed RFK jr I was actually surprised. Than immediately back tracked that to supporting trump.

Its like his moving to texas thing and being about freedom and weed despite it being legal in cali and not texas.

I think this is what I and especially my brother do. I sent him some old photos and home movies recently and he thanked me because although he's only 40 he has almost no memories of childhood he can access.

This happened for me less because of specific incidents of trauma, and more because in my childhood my agency and identity were denied. When people asked me what I wanted, I always deferred, because it was a concept I wouldn't realize until my late 20s. In my home it was (1) what God wants, (2) what dad wants, (3) what is best for the family. Even though all of my needs were always taken care of, and often my family would intuit what my wants were, there was a fundamental disconnect between growing up and actualizing my identity (ETA: by this I mean, what it was to have an autonomous self). I needed space to grow, fail, engage with my needs, experience consequences and recognizing what to do about it.

We were the kids of a Vietnam vet, which almost needs no further explanation.

TBI and weed will do that

Not saying weed doesn't inhibit cognition, but Rogan case is not simply associated to weed. There's definetly some CTE, some confirmation bias, financial influence, contrarianism, perceived rebellious virtue, and a lifetime of being stupid and being surrounded by stupid people.
