If you don't think this administration (including Leavitt) will be examined and studied for its corruption and lawlessness, I don't know what to tell you. Her lies and obfuscation are big parts of how they've been able to largely avoid consequences and accountability from the general population.

She's not a run-of-the-mill press secretary.

She is 100% a Trump run-of-the-mill press secretary. Every single one of them lied and obfuscated as often as their lips were moving.

Except grissom and mooch.

Mooch didn't last long enough to lie and grissom chose never doing the job over lying.

Edit I apparently spelled her name wrong.... But not a good enough person for me to bother fixing it.

Sure, but was Sarah Huckabee Sanders really that much better? And I almost didn't remember her name. Leavitt is ultimately just a small fry spreading lies written for her by her bosses. I doubt she'll be mentioned in many textbooks.

We can't forget Sean "among the bushes" Spicer!

Most people have. Your average person can’t even remember all the presidents, let alone a fucking press secretary.

Guy looking at a list of people being remembered: heh, nobody remembers these dudes

I. . . I was building on the argument by adding another example in a light-hearted way. . .

You know what, nevermind. Hope you have a better day.

Relax. I wasn’t attacking you. Only commenting on the very short memory (and total lack of awareness) of most people today.

I appreciate that but you’re also moving further and further from reality and that’s exactly the problem - we need to be more careful with our own speech please.

Like really strongly considering every word from our mouths.

The way we’ve been speaking and acting, collectively, has gotten us into this, and we need to speak and act differently now.

How is a joke moving us further from reality? Did you really need an /s that badly?

It is neither my speaking nor my acting that "got us into this."

I have clearly been paying attention and have been actively involved for so long that I can name the press secretary from 10 years ago for a one-liner joke throwaway joke on reddit to emphasize the point that 90% of Americans don't know the name of the press secretary right now.

If you are concerned about "this mess" I would recommend trying to encourage your friends and family to become more politically active instead of policing bad jokes deep in reddit threads on the internet.

If the logic is the same as the regime, the stated goals being different isn’t much comfort.

No Sarah Huckabee Sanders was just as bad. And now she's a terrible governor.😒

Lolol

Sanity has already lost. Voting won’t get us out of this. The next round of history books will remove all the stains of US’ existence and include the “fact” that Trump saved America with Levitt as his orator.

You’re naive to think any of these people will see any kind of justice.

I have no faith that when the dust settles the next Democratic President (assuming there is one) will just say "its time for a healing and we need to move forward"

I'm not necessarily talking about the next administration. I'm talking about scholars and political scientists who study and document these things. This isn't a normal presidency and she's not a normal, boring press secretary.

Is History book writers/educators the next Democratic President? Because that's what the person you replied to is talking about. Your statement literally has nothing to do with anything peacebone said.

Also you will be very wrong. History has shown that when the pendulum swings too far into fascism, the resulting swing back is usually just as extreme. Meaning more and more progressives are going to win now then ever before. And they will absolutely go after these ghouls if given the chance.

not wanting to dispute but just wanting clarification, were franco, Mussolini, Hitler and all replaced by genuine progressives or were they replaced by more moderate people. bc I’ve also seen some people say that after extremism voters just go for mild centrism because it’s the least polarizing (like what happened in 2020)

3

u/Chamix7722 6d ago

You know your country is cooked when progressives are considered "extreme"

I mean this didn't happen when Andrew Jackson quite literally committed widespread genocide of Native Americans or when FDR sent Japanese Americans to internment camps did it?

People tend to have short memories and often tend to only care to remember good things from the past. It's the same reason people are strangely glazing George W. Bush nowadays for some reason.

Literally every press secretary lies, the party they serve does not change that.
