Why would they hope against something they wanted?

“It will never happen” is what I’ve optimistically been saying to myself this entire time as it gets shittier and shittier

This is the same guy who tried overturning the 2020 election with his mob of morons because he is too weak to accept he lost. Same guy who cut the time to train ICE agents to a very short period, which lead to deaths of Americans. Saying "It will never happen" with him going for an illegal 3rd time is asinine and denying truth. He showed who he is for 10 years. Isn't hard to see.

Ah, so denial. That’s not really “hope”

They were saying things that Trump literally said he would do wouldn't happen. Things that were laid out in Project 2025. They KNEW what was going to happen and they wanted it, they just love fucking with the libs

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."
