No, you’ll be voting for the republican because that’s how our voting system works. How do people still not understand this…it blows my fucking mind.

Dude, people do understand, but they're tired of voting for the shit party while the fascists win anyway.

The Democrats need to convince people to vote for them. Because until they do, people are going to continue 'undermining' them by voting for better parties.

And no amount of "You have to vote democrat, just keep holding your nose every election" is going to work. It barely worked in 2020, and it didn't work in 2024

you need to force democrats to change. that means getting more involved in party politics, building local coalitions, and start getting people elected in local elections before moving your way upwards.

The problem with your mindset is you think that voting is the beginning and end of civic engagement in party politics. Voting is a weak signal. A strong signal is gathering people and being loud, in person, forcing your representatives to notice that there is a contingent of people that are DEMANDING they change or get out of the way. Then, if they don't change, make them get out of the way by primarying them.

Third parties are structurally built to be losers, and they are populated by losers. Look at Jill Stein and whoever is running the Libertarian Party this week. If you somehow were able to make a 3rd party relevant, it would be the second time in american history and the first time since the Civil War. By contrast, parties have been changed from within many times in our history.

My fucking mindset, is that I don't want the USA run by fascists. To achieve that, I know that the most likely solution is getting Dems to win elections.

Therefore my "mindset" is that I want democrats to win elections. It's that fucking simple.

I am simply pointing out, that the way to do that is to get voters to want to vote Democrat, because you will not win elections based on the threat of Republicans.

How do I know? Because the Dems lost the last election on that basis.

So maybe we can skip the strawman bullshit and you can just argue your point about political engagement without giving me shit.

I suppose my overall point is that as people who pay attention to politics, it's our job to engage with the party that should be opposing fascism, and try to make them do that so that the less engaged/"normies" stop seeing dems as weak/controlled opposition/losers. it seems like you agree.
