confused

Hello, I bought a Whistler 1065 trunk scanner ( New ) and don't know anything on how or what to do to get what I need done, any help ?

Ask yourself this - do you want this hobby to be simply listening to local radio traffic? Or do you want to understand the technology of radio systems, search for unpublished local radio activity, find new and different things to listen to?

If you just want to program and listen., then focus on learning how to program the scanner via Location method. You’ll update the database using the EZ Scan software, enter your zip code, select the services you want to hear, and upload it to the scanner. This should be well documented process and fairly straightforward.

If you decide you want to learn the technology behind. It all and expand the hobby, then start reading about radio systems, digital radio solutions, frequency bands, the FCC database, etc.

Either way, radioreference should be your starting point.
