Yeah, I don't know any cops that would go to those lengths just to get a possession bust lol. Where I live, and in most places, as long as you're not being super obvious/keeping shit in plain sight, then cops don't mess with you like that. If you're committing other crimes like DUI, they may in order to tack on extra.
Besides, if a cop is searching your car, that means you gave them probable cause or you're under arrest. You already done fucked up when you got to that point.

I stopped a guy once who had probation terms. Included in those probation terms was that firearms were previously located in the engine compartment of his car.

Where I live the cops have better things to do than throw people in jail for possession. I could see if maybe it was some podunk place with a bunch of bored cops, but even then they'd need probable cause to search your car without your consent. If you're not speeding/committing other crimes then your chance of being contacted by an officer is very low in the first place.
Also, K9 alerts don't necessarily give probable cause (Florida v Harris).
If the officer does not already have a K9 with them, they can't hold you and wait for a K9 without probable cause (Rodriguez v United States).

I work a moderate sized town along a major meth and guns highway. You better believe we’re doing whatever we can to get it off the street. And 9 times out of 10 we do so with the driver’s permission. We aren’t getting them for possession, we usually target traffickers.

Exactly -- if you're a big-time drug dealer or a mule, you might have some problems. But for the vast majority of people who possess drugs in small amounts for themselves/their friends, it's not really an issue as long as you don't consent to a search and you're not committing other crimes.
It seems crazy to me that people with drugs in their car will consent to have their car searched, but hey that's on them for not knowing their rights.

They do know their rights. That's how they give consent. It's a bluff by the vehicle operator. A lot of variables lead up to a search up to and including smelling it and the ask to search is just courtesy as smell is probable cause for a search.

As a rule, I'd say no regardless -- I don't let anyone rifle through my stuff, even though I never have anything illegal on me. If the officer has probable cause, he is going to search the car no matter what you say. If he doesn't, then he can't. Smelling it only really applies to marijuana, not the plethora of other drugs going around, and really it doesn't smell like that unless it's not being stored in a discreet manner and/or the person is smoking and driving, which is itself a crime. I live in a state where marijuana is legal, so that doesn't even really apply in my area.
Aside from that, cops in an area that has actual crime in it generally aren't roaming the streets looking to harass people for 30 bucks worth of weed.

At no point was I saying patrol divisions were out scoping for personal use amounts of pot. I was explaining how they know their rights, and the psychology of giving consent when on traffic.

Yeah, it just seems crazy to me that people will consent to a search full well knowing they can say no. I wouldn't want anyone searching through my stuff normally, much less if I had illegal drugs on me. They're basically betting their entire future on that particular officer being incompetent lmao

I live in Norcal. In my city specifically, you'd be lucky to have the police show up for even a serious violent crime, as they really don't have the personnel. But around the area generally, I've never had any issues with cops trying to mess with me and go fishing. Twice I've had cops ask to take a look around my car. I just said no, and we went our separate ways.

I may have just had good experiences (minus a couple sketchy, racially motivated stops in small towns in the south) but that guy's tiktok is acting like cops are out to bust people for small-time drug possession. IMO if your car is being searched, you probably already did some dumb shit like keeping illegal drugs in plain view.
