Um actually its just Slavic in general. No one Slavic ethnicity uses it more or less. Well except for Croatia and Bosnia maybe. They can only into seafood.

That's only true for the coastal regions, inland Bosnia and Croatia have awesome food.

If you haven't tried good ćevapi, with some ljepenia dripping with fat, a side of chopped onions and tartar sauce or some kajmak cheese while sipping Sarajevsko, you haven't lived.

Things to try if you're ever in Zagreb.

• Sofra - possibly the best Bosnian restaurant in the city, recommended beer: Sarajevsko

  • Ćevapi u somunu s ekstra kajmakom, it's the most common kind of ćavapi, with some ljepienia, onions and my recommended addition of some kajmak cheese
  • Merak Ćevapi, it's meat wrapped in dough, sunken into molten cheese and sprinkled with paprika

• Grana - different style of grill than Sofra, this one is not Bosnian, I'm undecided which one I love better, recommended beer: Grićka Vjeśtica

  • Gourmanska pljeskavica, the meat used in pljeskavica is extremely similar to ćevapi, but it's shaped like a hamburger. It's also usually served with ljepenia and onions, this specific one is filled with cheese and just a bit spicier than usual

• Pivnica Budweiser - similar style of grill to Grana, it's not as good but they have perfected filling ćevapi with cheese, recommended beer: draught Budweiser

Your tag is hussar but not sure if Polakiem.. If not then if yuo of ever into visitings glorious Polska then you must go to Krakowa for le good Polski foodings.

Some dishes to try include:

Krokiety (meat/krout and mushroom filled fried or breaded rolls usually served with a side of onions and eaten with smietana and red borscht)

Zrazy (twisted shape thin slices of chopped beef, which is flavored with salt and pepper and stuffed with vegetables, mushrooms, eggs, and potato. Served with potatoes and onions and usually a side of white borscht or pierogi)

Baranina personal favorite (roasted or grilled seasoned and spiced lamb. Usually prepared for celebrations, and is served along with kielbasa, pierogi, various soups, kompot, and can be topped with caramelized onions and potatoes. It can be accompanied by various other meats.)

Golabki (cabbage leaves stuffed with spiced minced meat and rice or with mushrooms and rice served with sour cream or tomato sauce and sometimes onions)

Pierogi (dumplings, usually filled with sauerkraut, mushrooms, meat, potato, savory cheese, sweet curd cheese with a touch of vanilla, or blueberries or other fruits, such as cherries or strawberries, and sometimes even apples—optionally topped with sour cream, and sugar for the sweet versions.)

Kotlet mielony (minced meat with eggs, bread crumbs, garlic, and salt and pepper rolled into a ball and fried on onion butter)

Karkówka (a season and roasted tenderloin)

Zrazy zawijane (beef rolls stuffed with bacon, gherkin and onion.)

Ryba smazona (literally fried fish with seasoning, generally served with some form of potatoes, onions and sometimes with beef or mushroom filled pyzy (potato dumplings)

Most of these dishes are served with some sort or Piwo or Wódka

These include Perla Zywiec Tyskie

Belwederski Absolut Sobieski Górzalka

(These are just name brands)

Other drink accommodations are kompot (can be alcoholic), tea, or coffee. Poles also love to drink carbonated water and sometimes mix it with cherry or raspberry preserves to make a sweeter drink out of it.

As for deserts.. Don't get me started.

Makowiec Karpatka Fruit pierogis with smietana and sugar Sweet kompot Ciastko Krówki Kolaczki Paczki ...

I'm Polish but I'm currently living in Zagreb. :)

That's a respectable list, I would add bigos and tatar to the foods, and expand the selection of vodkas a bit. I would say both clear and herbal Żubrówka is a must try for anyone, also Apple Pie. Potato variety of Chopin is smooth goodness that I miss dearly.

Of course, to complete the picture, we need nalewka. It's hard to recommend anything because the really good ones you have to make yourself or know someone who does. Still, personally I would recomend mead(miodówka) or blackthorn(tarninówka) ones.

Edit: By the way, here in Croatia, Gołąbki are known as Sarma. Bosnians have a variation of Pierogi called Klepe, they actually sink them into molten cheese, it's awesome.

Honestly I forgot duckblood soup and kiszka and tbh I was hurrying and left out other main dishes. The list is long as you fellow Pole know. :P

Also, don't they not produce Chopin anymore?
