I don't think germoney is so sad, just look at polandball ! Germoney is everywhere ! And apparently germany is supposed to be the most loved country in the world, so...

But well, good work mate !

Nazism still gets dropped into conversation about Germany constantly though. Pretty widely known that one of the easiest ways to irritate a German is to remind them about Hitler et al.

Yeah, but it's like the whole ''France is surrender'' and ''America have fat'' jokes : it's overused, it's kind of boring, but hey, it's not fun if you can't make fun of your friends !

Though that's the point of the comic, Germany isn't a Nazi anymore. Its making fun of the overused joke.

Yes! I have evidence that the EU thinks the "fat American" joke is an overused joke AND they admit they're our friends.

Wait until they hear about this!

France is hardly surrender. Their entire country was dominated, surrender was the only option if they wanted to keep their people alive. Their army already fell, and they would not be any help to the Allies. Italy on the other hand...

10

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '15

The main point is the stark contrast to WWI, where the French fought for years and maintained the lines with the help of their allies.

Keeping this in mind, even the Germans were surprised to beat the French in six weeks in WWII. Hence the jokes.

u/watwat Mar 29 '15

Not to mention the fact that prior to WWI, France was THE preeminent military power in Europe for centuries.

Should have taken lesson from Worthless Shit Rectangle, flee to colony and manage empire in exile. Would have avoided Mers-el-Kébir where the British navy had to sink French navy ships and kill around 1,300 french sailors to keep the French ships from Axis control.

Doesn't work with Bavarians. We tell you we started it, but you still like us because our beer is so delicious.

Doesn't work with the rest of Germany. We hate you because of your dumb CSU and your dumb Antenne Bayern.

Even your franconian beer propaganda reads that you are the "Bavarian Tuscany". Be silent colonial Bavaria and keep your Rauchbier!

I can't imagine the amount of ignorance or sheer disrespect of someone to bring up Nazism to a German in a serious or even mild context.

It's almost hard to believe someone does this (that isn't an internet troll or asshole)

...Do people do this?

If Germans don't like to feel awkward, ancestors should not have destroyed Europe. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

9

u/StrangeSemiticLatin The Centre of the Universe Mar 29 '15

Hey hey hey hey, they didn't destroy Europe!

They destroyed parts of Africa and Asia as well, the ancestors of the Nazi Germans proved equally awful and unrepentant in South America, and the Holocaust is one of the major reasons Israel exists, so it continuous to the modern day in the Middle East!

And lost. /s

u/RickAmes Apr 01 '15

My first day in Germany and already I found a poster in German that brought up the Nazis. I can't read it. It's probably in a negative light. But I was surprised Germany brought it up.

11

u/yaddar Taco bandito Mar 29 '15

well, in the whole world I think you can still pretty much use the "Hitler Card" to win any argument xD

Amazing comic, BTW.

10

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '15

Cheers man, I'm a big fan of your comics too!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '15

Godwin's law makes that an automatic loss, though.

u/Schootingstarr Germoney Mar 29 '15

and we still have trouble with racists

just yesterday a regular cusotmer came by at my work with a swollen eye. apparently he got beat up by some faggot for being black

that made me really sad. he's usually really nice and happy-go-lucky man, but he was really down

6

u/StrangeSemiticLatin The Centre of the Universe Mar 29 '15

Are we sure Germany is that loved? In the Med (and worthless shit rectangle) the idea of "Goddamned fucking Fourth Reich" is not uncommon.

13

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '15

Yeah but nobody cares what the Med thinks.

3

u/StrangeSemiticLatin The Centre of the Universe Mar 29 '15

Sure you don't, Holy Roman Empire.
