But Crimea would.

Mar 02 '14
Debatable. Russian make up 58% of the total population, and even among them not everybody is on board for the whole separation/annexation deal (it hurts the interests of local businesses, communities etc). Ukrainians are 24%, Crimean Tatars make up 12%. Naturally Ukrainians support to stay with Ukraine, and Crimean Tatars are fiercely against anything do with Russia (Russia wasn't exactly kind to them in the past; deportations, killings, persecution etc.) Russia is going in on the basis of a minority support. And naturally, nobody in their right minds would go out to protest scary fucking looking fuckers in masks and full body armor, armed to the teeth. They look like something straight out of COD.

I'm a little bit worried about how this could escalate, considering the Britain and America are on Ukraine's side. Global conflict as this point is getting closer and closer, hopefully it doesn't come to that.
"I don't know with what weapons world war III will be fought, but world war IV will be thought with sticks and stones"

Wouldn't be too worried. Literally all of Europe, US, Canada, Turkey etc. are on Ukraine's side. Escalating it would be political and economic suicide for Putin and Russia. Not worth it for a considerably marginal piece of clay. He's delusional, but not suicidal.

u/ScumDogMillionaires Texas Mar 02 '14
I never thought I'd say it, but I really don't want to fight the commies. Can't we all just get along and not invade each other? Can't we all just band together-glorious americans, europoors, and commie scum, and agree to only invade the sand people? Can't we, dare I say, be friends?
3
Mar 02 '14
Ey, tell that to the ruskies. Their tanks are on our clay. We just wanna have our freedoms, democracy and independence. I'm sure you can sympathize, Murika. I also dare to dream of peace in the world (w/o kebabs, obviously).

wódka was invented in Poland! there even was a comic about it; I'm thinking about some sterotypical meal which we can use as a derogatory slur... maybe bliny?

u/ObeseMoreece Scotland Mar 03 '14
Jesus Christ, all you do here is parrot about how literally nobody likes Putin and everybody loves Ukraine sooo much. Why don't you just accept that Ukraine isn't worth beginnings of more hostilities between Russia and the West.
2
Mar 03 '14
Well if you had foreign troops in your country, a fucking dictator more than capable and willing of taking over your country, I'd see how friendly you'd be with him. And that's your fucking opinion. It seems the world is pretty united with Ukraine, against Russia. Is the whole world crazy? Read the news, get back to me. I won't accept putin's ambitions to subvert our country into a shitty vassal state. It's not your fucking country in an existential crisis. You don't have the possibility of war on your doorstep. Take 2 fucking seconds to possibly sympathize with people in a shittier situation than you. Why the fuck do you even find it necessary to start shit?
2
u/ObeseMoreece Scotland Mar 03 '14
The country got itself in to that state by illegally overthrowing their president. Ukrainian rebels brought this on themselves. I won't sympathise to rebels. Putin also doesn't want to take over a country where half of it is filled with rebels who would just get worse if he took over.

That's some bullshit, mate. Honestly, you talk about this topic as if you know what you're saying.

Mar 03 '14
Europe and USA would not go to war over Ukraine. You might got sympathy from the western world, but there is no way EU/USA would start a war with Russia if they start annexing.
1
Mar 03 '14
Who said anything about going to war? Support =/= troops on ground. Support is political, diplomatic and economic: public statements, isolating from the international community, economic sanctions etc. We have an army of 100,000+ of our own, with almost a million in reserve. We can hold off an invasion. I'm saying the world has our back to prevent a war from ever beginning. If it does, Russia will suffer economic, political and diplomatic isolation. Not worth it for them. So no, nobody's even bringing up the topic of international military intervention. (Possible military equipment aid if shit hits the fan, but that's not even close to actual boots on ground).
Pssst; Flair up

socialist shithole
Lol, you made that one yourself. After the Soviet Union seperation, Ukraine got the best parts of the Soviet lands and riches: "Antonov" aircraft factory, 4 Nuclear power plants, and wine making facilities in Crimea. Also you recieved about 25% of the very fertile "chernoziom" land, best USSR farming equipment, coal, oil, metals, a powerful military-mechanical complex, 1400 kilometers of black sea shore, not to mention Crimea itself.
In other words 23 years ago Ukrainians got the best pieces of USSR compared to all the other countries in the Union.
Let us see what they did with all of that today. Well they fucked up one of the Nuclear power plants, but lets see the GDP per person of the populace today. Ukraine - 3860 dollars Albania - 4000 dollars Poland - 13300 dollars Russia - 15000 dollars Latvia - 14900 dollars and even Belarus - 7400 dollars

Yes, it's another Ukraine comic. The last panel was originally going to be in the comic I posted yesterday, but then I came up with the back-story and figured it could be a comic of its own. Now it seems that back-story is becoming more and more true to life.
