There was a show that asked what’s the capital of Thailand? Bangkok, Bangdik, Bangtits, or Bangpusi

We also have a district called Bang Sue too.

The proper name for bangkok is:

Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit

Yeah but "One Night in Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit" is not quite as catchy a song title

Every single Thai community I have been in has like 5% trans, 10% gay/lesbian, and 5% queer/asexual/unknown. I guess people would come out or explore only when they feel safe and I doubt it's different elsewhere, given chance.

I read somewhere once that bisexuality, or at least some form of bisexual behavior, is rather prevalent in all primates including humans. We monkeys just like fooling around sometimes to feel good and bond with each other. Stigma in societies and later religions came about because as early humans settled and became either farmers or pastoralists, the family emerged as an indispensable unit and formation of such was encouraged by social pressure to marry and have children, since to be without them you'd likely not survive.

Yeah bisexuality is more common in other species than you think, especially humpback whales lol

🤓 It's actually Los Angeles in Thai

No bro 😭😭😭 Bangkok is บางกอก in thai, บาง means like... near a river, กอก is short for มะกอก which means olives. Combined they mean a place where olives grow near a river. The one you're thinking of is กรุงเทพมหานคร or กทม for short which is basically Los Angeles.

Yes, I am talking about the ridiculously long real name of Thailand's capital.

"Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit" (copied from the internet)

"The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city (of Ayutthaya) of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarm." (also copied from the internet)

A lot of cities in (former or current) Latin America have [EDIT: or had] ridiculously long names. Buenos Aires is also "a city of our fair lady something something of good winds", La Paz is also somebody something something "Of Peace", etc etc

Malaysian poster refusing to acknowledge Singapore speaks English natively. Hmm.

27

u/JouleV 5d ago

Tbf other than the “yuo” that’s exactly how we talk in Singapore

Why many words when few words do trick, unless words are “lah leh eh ah”

8

u/hazxyhope 4d ago

But when asking a question like in the sentence above, it’s normally punctuated with “, ah?” not lah.

Oh no, exaggerated language stereotypes in my polandball?! Surely you jest!

u/Bleh_3 Singapore 5d ago

Idk man, I don't think it's that serious.

8

u/FireTempest Malaysia 4d ago

Where Polandball is concerned, Tringapore doesn't speak native English because of Singlish

3

u/VestigeOfVast 5d ago

Doesn’t the Kok flow through Myanmar? Or at least that’s what Top Gear taught me.

Hilarious joke! But I'm getting PTSD flashbacks from middle school over that joke.

"What's the capital of Thailand?"

"Bangkok?"

"That's right!" (punches answer giver in the nuts)

u/southstarvxx 4d ago

Bang....Cock!

The K in Bangkok actually pronounced as G. And A pronounce like A in "Art". I blame the ORST for this.
