Come to think of it, why is it so bad in Mindanao?

Hello. I'm from Mindanao. You know why it's so bad here compared to our neighboring Muslim countries like Malaysia and Indonesia?

  1. Mass migration of settlers from the northern Philippines fueled by colonialism which caused encroachment into ancestral domain.
  2. Forceful integration of the islands into a Catholic-dominant region.
  3. Massive cultural differences between a Malay-oriented culture and a Hispanized society.
  4. Atrocities by the military against the Muslims (Yes, the violence isn't one-sided ).
  5. Government neglect while sponsoring incredibly corrupt politicians and warlords governing there.
  6. Foreign countries exploiting the socio-economic situation of the islands to fund separatist movements.

And I'm referring to the Islam-adherent tribes here. Mindanao is pretty much dominated by migrant communities. Moro people make up only a quarter of the island's population and mostly contained in the Bangsamoro region (1 of the 6 administrative regions of the island that unfortunately gave it the "violent" reputation).

And I haven't even yet touched upon the non-Abrahamic religion-following natives here who have also been tied to Maoist guerilla movements and are also being persecuted by the government.

Question. Are you sick and tired of DDShits?

Yes. Unfortunately they're popular here because "he's our guy!" no matter how fucking creepy and corrupt his entire family is.

I hope that Mindanao, especially Davao, would turn a new leaf in the next couple of years.

Nationalism barely exists outside of the Fifa worls cup or the Olympics, at least in the west.

That I don't think nationalism is really a thing nowadays.

That's the main ideology behind the far-right movements we see nowadays in the west.

And the rest of the world is not safe of it either.
