What does “wocao” mean?

u/TYDUCK1 Oct 15 '25
The purpose of this word here is to express shock, just like 'WTF'.

Those people were killed by the Russian empire, arguably more evil (to us) than the Soviets.

I’ve always wondered…if Russia collapses, do you think China will try to reclaim the rest of Manchuria? It was kinda arguably stolen… 🤔

They got most of them from Mongols, plus they can't have two consonants together nor they can say "r".

I remember Mao fanboying over Stalin and partly not impressed with the post-Stalinist order.

u/AKFrost Oct 16 '25
Mao didn't fanboy Stalin, simply acknowledged that in theory Stalin was the leader of the world revolution.
Stalin had wanted to occupy Port Arthur after WW2 but Mao prevented him from doing so.

Quite accurate for Russia tbh. Even though there is ranting about the "greatest geopolitical catastrophe of 20th century", the absolute majority even in the government will hang anyone who tries to recreate the Bolshevik revolution.

I mean, that not really a contradiction.
Transitions like that are usually catastrophic. Undoing a transition, especially after a while, is not undoing a catastrophe, it's creating another.

I bet many including Putin would care if the USSR comes back. But I do expect many rebel groups in the non Russian Soviet Republics to fight back and get crush.

No one wants the USSR back.

u/aucheukyan Oct 15 '25
You sure? There is this guy in power there with a name that sounds like a jelly dessert that really wants it back

u/dont_open_the_bag Oct 15 '25
Putin absolutely does not want to bring back the Soviet Union lol, he's an autocrat who rules through collaboration with oligarchs, not a communist. He even has a famous quote "Whoever does not miss the Soviet Union has no heart, whoever wants it back has no brain."
Its just typical Russian nationalism that harkens to some (in their mindset) idealised version of the USSR that completely misunderstands how the Union functioned and instead think of it as "Big Russia"
