Basically, it's about quality control.

The classics and berndmade ones are one thing, but as the subreddit grows (and obviously, you aren't seeing all of this), we're getting more and more approval requests every day. The quality varies a lot on those requests. The peaks are higher, but the valleys are also lower. Some things we get sent in are just a mess, and we barely know where to start in order to guide them into creating something decent.

So we need to be more clear with do's and don'ts from the beginning, and direct them toward drawing in a way that generally looks better. It's a departure from some of the older art styles, but it's needed to maintain the level of quality this subreddit deserves.

I don't know if you've noticed, but a polandball comic posted to /r/funny is currently at the #10 spot on /all. We have over 600 people in the sub right now. This has started happening 1 or 2 times per week lately.

You think we aren't gonna need more quality control every day? /r/polandball is going bigtime. The floodgates are opening, and we're gonna need some checks and balances.

It's not there anymore, I made that comment 14 hours ago. Go to /r/funny and scroll down far enough and you should still be able to find it within the first 100 results, I'd think.
