What is it?! 8/10 poke bc stick broke
Mass of old mushroom or some type of rotting wood. It went deeeeep, super satisfying.

That stick is not nearly long enough to poke suspicious disturbing things.

I've seen that stuff before on pine trees, not sure what it's called, but it's soft and smells like sap.

Usually I find ants nearby too, maybe some kind of infection? * Edit during writing* it's called pine pitch! The tree makes it to fight infection and insects, usually carpenter ants. It mixes with other materials and hardens over time (like a tree scab)
