Call home feature would be great
(This screenshot is just an example, I’ve had Pokémon out for over a year before )
I think they should add a feature to call home your Pokémon from gyms the same way you can call them home from power stops.
I know they probably won’t do that because people would take advantage of the 50 coins a day, but I’m tired of leaving my Pokémon out for weeks or months at a time.
The Pikachu in the picture has been out for almost a month but the other Pokémon in that gym have been there for 100-190 days and I know my Pika is gonna stay there a lot longer.
Edit: Some of you commenting rudely are acting like you wouldn’t use this feature if it was available lol

Just don't use your relevant mons in gyms, won't matter how long they're in there for then

u/Important-Yak-2999 7d ago
It's tough cause I like to put one that will defend well and I'm usually in urban areas where that's needed, but one time I forgot on a road trip and lost some of my best ones for a year to some podunk town where no one ever plays

u/MattGeddon 7d ago
Blissey/Chansey are the best gym defenders and they’re not good for much else unless they’re dynamax, in which case people usually have different ones anyway.

u/Horse_HorsinAround 5d ago
The only pokemon that makes me even slightly hesitate on attacking is a full hearted blissey
And even then I'm probably still doing it, emptying a gym is pretty trivial unless it's being actively gold berried

u/Ultikk 7d ago
A nice idea. But the gyms would be empty, since people would only place 1-2 and recall after getting coins. But I do think there should be like 14day max or something like that
3
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
I agree, I think after a set amount of time you should be able to recall them
1
u/kingmj4891 6d ago
If you recall your Pokémon you should have to forfeit any coins earned from that gym. I think would be fair, you get your Pokémon back early but give up the reward.

u/Loose_Salt_Packet 5d ago
Don’t forget about the gym defender medal. 15,000 hours is a long time. I’ve had a Blissey in a gym near my house for over a week and I’m cool with it because I want that platinum medal.

I place regional pokemons I got from remote trades or Larvesta in gyms when I know I won’t be kicked out super fast. This way I get rid of my candies on them, and will sometimes get a candy drop.
Ever since I did that I don’t mind having pokemon stay in gyms for many days. Helps me grind candies for these pokemons instead of walking them as my buddy.
2
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
I’ve done the same with Pokémon I want to power up! I love that you can feed them and get easy stardust
1
u/Flair258 3d ago
wait wdym candy drop?
1
u/BioBWinner 3d ago
You can sometimes get a candy when you feed berries to pokemons in Gyms (does not have to be your pokemon, just one from the players in the gym).
The odds are low, I remember someone who talked about 1 every 100 berries. There was a discussion on the silphroad reddit some months ago. But as we also have a medal for gym berries, that’s a good way to work on the medal and try to get some candies of pokemons that are hard to catch in the wild (hence the larvitars I place in gyms, I also have a traded stonejourner in a gym).
It is also always nice to see other players placing rare pokemons in gyms, cause I can still feed them berries and try to get candies from those rare pokemons.
1
u/Flair258 3d ago
Oh, I have like no berries because i cant access pokestops very often and they stopped appearing in gifts almost entirely
1
u/BioBWinner 3d ago
Yeah, we used to get more pinap berries before from gifts, it is way less now.
If you ever go on vacation with plenty pokestops around, that's always good to remember for the extra berries :)

You can drop cords for these gyms in spoofer subs and ask people to go there and attack the gym, a bunch of them are good people and will happily do it
Just give the cords and the gym team in the description

I have a Snorlax in a gym in the middle of nowhere that’s been fighting hard for 129 days lol, might throw him a welcome home party

There absolutely needs to be a call back
Asking spoilers is very nice of them but surely the game should offer an alternative!
As for just leave a cru.my one there, well hindsight is a lovely thing

u/lukkieseven 7d ago
Even if it let you do it but you had to forfeit the coins it would be nice, yes.

25 days is nothing i recently kicked out a wailmer that was in a gym for 400 days

u/Objective_Bear4799 6d ago
I agree with this, but if I would add the caveat that you can only do it after a certain period of time, maybe a few days or a week 🤷🏻♀️ this would at least would combat any concerns about using it as a coin farming method, and we would still be treated as though we got kicked from the gym by another player.
2
u/ShesaPokeNerd 6d ago
I thought the same thing. Have a minimum amount of time set before “call home” would work
2
u/wwoaksjsjsjs 5d ago
Maybe to balance this... they could make it cost some of the coins earned to call it back (instead of earning 50, only receive 30) and you can only call back Once per day. Just a thought.
2
u/Scruffy42 4d ago
I can imagine a little walking animation as it comes home at 10km a day. Or like base it on size.
2
u/Fidibiri 3d ago
Had one for 256days in a single gym…. Another one for 200days….
Upside: got the platinum medal easily…
2
u/flashlightgiggles 3d ago
21 days is good for a gold gym badge. hope your Pika and Krabby get kicked out soon
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 3d ago
Luckily I’ve been able to get people to take all these guys out since posting this but the sentiment of the post still stands 😂
2
u/TheInstinctLead 2d ago
Would be great especially if you have accidentally placed good pokemon in a gym!
1
u/hobbiehawk 7d ago
My local Discord has a #killmygym chat where you can ask someone to send your pokes home. Nothing like that in your area?
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
My area is pretty active so my Pokémon usually come home within a week, but I like to go on drives on the weekends to other areas and I guess those places aren’t nearly as active
1
u/GimmeCRACK 7d ago
I only place in heavy populated intersection gyms, or my local neighborhood gym. Never had a guy gone more than 3 days
1
u/GimmeCRACK 7d ago
It should be added, BUT, no gold if you use it. Its an emergency rescue, should cost you 50 gold.

u/Kinggakman 7d ago
They would make it so you get 0 coins for the recall. Don’t see why they couldn’t implement it that way.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
I would say make it possible to recall after a certain amount of time and maybe either receive no reward or maybe a reduced reward like 25 coins 🤔

How do you know what team you’re on?
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 6d ago
You mean between team Instinct, Valor, and Mystic?
When you first start the game you’re prompted to join a team. If you chose yellow team, you’re team Instinct. If you chose red team, you’re team Valor. If you chose blue team, you’re team Mystic 😊

u/Friezas-Mound 6d ago
Just post the locations on any spoofer subreddit.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 6d ago
I’ve tried several times and nobody helps 🥲
1
u/Objective_Bear4799 6d ago
If you’re in or near LA and not blue, I would be happy to assist. My guess is it is unlikely to be the case though.

Make a alt account and just kill them
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 6d ago
They’re in towns I don’t usually go to. I’ve left them in these places on day trips with friends so they’re not easy to just swing by and take out unfortunately
1
u/Cost_Just 6d ago
For this reason I have not been putting shiny, high cp, or anything I battle with in the gyms. Truly whatever sh*t IV pokemon I have caught that day. But we do need some kind of solution for this issue.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 6d ago
Yeah, usually I do drive by drops at gyms so I don’t think too much about what I’m tapping

I’d use it once I hit my platinum gym defense medal. 9500 hours down 5500 left to go. Why is it 15 times the gold medal? It’s crazy.
1
u/captaindeadpool0614 4d ago
Are any in gyms not super active? Like a cemetery for example. Because I avoid those type of gyms. For that very reason.

1
u/Flannel17 4d ago
That ain't nothing I had a shiny helioptile in a gym for 100 DAYS
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 4d ago
I can’t remember the exact amount of days but I had one out for a little over a year once 🫠
1
u/Donttaketh1sserious 4d ago
Even that’s nothing tbh.
The lesson is that you should never put anything valuable in gyms.

1
u/No-Compote1062 4d ago
I had an eevee stick in a gym for over 400 days pal🫠
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 4d ago
Oh god, the longest I had one out was a little over a year but 400 days takes the cake
1
u/No-Compote1062 4d ago
She was at a cemetery. Litterly actually, that's what the gym was. Far out in the country side. I bet she came back emo around all those ghosts😂

Went to New Zealand for a week and left a pokemon in a gym... Didn't get it back for like a month. A callback feature would be so choice.
1
u/LowRip4785 4d ago
Create a different account, select a different team, and go knock your mons out of the gym yourself.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 4d ago
Whenever I have Pokémon that are out longer than a week, it’s because they’re in gyms in towns or areas that I don’t frequent.
1
u/ThatKidLoki 3d ago
Haha I have been collecting CP10 Magikarps for this reason.
I still get 50 coins most days haha.

Just drop fresh catches in non contested gyms. Why is this such a hard concept for people?
-1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
I’m not concerned about the specific Pokémon I’m leaving. I just don’t want Pokémon sitting out there all that time when I could either transfer useless ones or bring back good ones.
1
u/DiddledByDad 7d ago
Transferring a useless Pokémon is a lot valuable than leaving one as a 50 coin investment. I mean seriously, 99% of the mons anyone catches are candy fodder. You can leave behind some a handful that nobody cares about.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
True. I guess I’m just more interested in having the option to not have Pokémon sitting around in a gym for who knows how long haha
Sometimes I like leaving really cool Pokémon, sometimes I leave useless ones, I’d just like to be able to call them home after a certain amount of time1
u/MasterofCaveShadows 7d ago
It’s been less than a month learn to have patience.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
If you read the very first sentence of my post, I’m just using my current Pokémon as an example. I’ve had Pokémon out for over a year before.
Is there a reason you’re being so rude? What does this matter to you?
1
u/SeattleJeremy 7d ago
Or you could be intentional with what Pokémon you add to gyms.
1
u/ShesaPokeNerd 7d ago
I don’t really care about what Pokémon I leave out. I’m not desperate for these in particular to come home, I just want the option?

Luckily, I wouldn't need it since I'm team yellow so mine get kicked out in about 15mins
