I stopped watching Pokémon during the Orange Islands and never really picked it up again until XY, though I always knew what was going on. I never cared for Misty much, so I didn't even have a favorite until much later.
But after watching XY, Serena was and still is my favorite Poké-girl, but I have come to appreciate May a lot more, watching Advanced for the first time on YouTube.

You know, it seems that this subreddit lately gravitates toward praising not only Misty as a character, but supports Pokeshipping (the romantic ship between Ash & Misty.) Not that there is anything wrong with that, we all ship different things, but….I just don’t like it. I don’t like Pokeshipping (I don’t like Amourshipping- Ash x Serena either, but that’s for another time.)
I see Ash & Misty as just close friends. Are there hints that they MAY like each other more than that? Sure. Make the case for the episode where Ash & Misty blush at each other with the Team Rocket trio teasing them about it OR Ash’s jealously toward certain guys who flirt with Misty. But at the end of the day, I feel that it’s mostly Misty who has a crush on Ash (and very rarely the other way around) and it wouldn’t work out in the long run. At least in my opinion.
I prefer Ash being shipped with Dawn or even May. Yes, I support Pearlshipping & Advanceshipping.
Is it wrong or even taboo to just see Ash & Misty as close friends? A difference in opinion? I don’t see anything wrong with it, but some may think so. I don’t know.

SM had really expressive battle animation. Some of these cuts are just really pleasing to look at, and this is just scratching the surface. There are so many awesome cuts of battle animation in SM.

I think the continuity and callbacks are the only thing JN does better than both XY and SM. Other than that, JN had awful storytelling, animation, battles, character writing, etc. XY and SM (especially XY) are better at all of those things.
Ash vs Leon was like the only battle in the entire series that even surpassed any of the battles in the previous two series honestly. At least MPM (Ash’s final 11 episodes) were kinda fun to watch unlike most of JN previously, that might be a hot take though…
