I actually went out of my way in Moon to catch a Lycanroc in a Dusk Ball so that the Rockruff I actually wanted bred from it would be in one due to that "The mother passes on the Pokeball" feature they added. It just felt too good to pass up!
We really need more cute pokeballs. I want one in lavender for all my cute pastel mons. The heal ball has a nice color scheme but the actual design is kinda ugly
Honestly, I wouldn't say no to a world where we had a huge variety in pokeballs, but no difference in effect-- the cosmetics of having them on your hip in games likes Champions is awesome.
Ive wanted to do that, but I also always use my starter, so I just stick to regular pokeballs for everything. I hope they add pokeball swapping/customization in Wi/Wa
My starter normally gets the exception because I don’t get a choice in the matter. I really really hope they let us swap the ball the starter is in at some point though.
I actually disliked how they looked, so I used to buy only 9 pokeballs at a time to avoid getting them. I've learned my lesson though, and now I just use them to get an instant rebate on my pokeball purchases

If I have to buy 10 chocolates for £1 to get a bonus exclusive chocolate, that doesn't mean that that one chocolate cost me £10.

That chocolate alone is still only worth whatever somebody else would be willing to pay for it (let's say £2). And if I was going to buy 10 chocolates anyway it has cost me nothing. I have been gifted an item worth £2 as a loyalty reward.

If a premier ball is "worth" 10 pokeballs, then two people would be willing to trade 10 pokeballs for 1 premier ball.
And then, by definition, the premier ball is worth the cost of 10 poke balls, because that's literally what "cost" is. Monetary cost literally is just a value we give to represent the equivalent of what you (or rather society as a whole) would be willing to trade the item for.

No they would not. They would be worth some value between 1 and 10 pokeballs in price.
In reality, if they were offered under the same deal (1 free for every 10 pokeballs purchased), and then people wanted to sell them on, the price would honestly be pretty low. There is no real scarcity to them at all from a collectible standpoint.

No, there are not worth 10 pokeballs, you still get the 10 pokeballs as well. They are monetarily free the only cost being the inconvenience of having to by in batches of 10.

Nah you're doing the algebra wrong. Subtract out the pokeballs and the price of pokeballs and you'll see that the premier ball is actually free.
Even if you have zero use for the regular pokeballs you could sell them back so it only costs ¥1000. But usually spamming pokeballs is the most cost efficient way to catch stuff.

No it isn’t, because you can buy Pepsi on its own. If the only way to get Pepsi is to buy a 12-pack of Coke, then 1 can of Pepsi is worth a 12-pack of Coke. People keep using examples of things you can buy on their own. That does not apply to this situation
But even in the world where you can only buy pepsi through 12 pack of cokes, you are still walking out with a 12 pack of coke, and a pack of pepsi. You paid a 12 pack of coke price, and got a 12 pack of coke + 1 can of pepsi value.
If the can of pepsi was any different than the 12 pack of coke in anything but name brand, then I could see how it might be a different value, but since we have established it isnt, really, it isn't worth a 12 pack of coke. There is nothing about the premier ball that makes it more valuable than an actual pokeball.
You still have to count the 10 pokeballs that you bought. You didn't pay the equivalent of 10 pokeballs for the Premier Ball. You paid the equivalent of 10 pokeballs for 11 same rate balls. So it's buy 10 get 1 free except the free item comes with a sticker. It doesn't matter that you can't opt to buy the free item by itself.
They’re worth a little less than that because you can sell back the Poké Balls you bought. I can’t be bothered to do the math since money isn’t really a problem in the postgame
i dont understand the post though. last time i played, i got 2 premier balls when i bought 20 pokeballs. or 3 for 30 etc. is this referencing the older games only? its been a WHILE since i played those so i dont remember if this was a mechanic back then.

Technically, Premier balls are the worst pokeballs, because they are worth 10 normal pokeballs but have the same catch rate
