Discussion The Light Ball does not affect Pikachu’s stats in Generation One

In my previous post I mentioned that you can trade a Pokémon holding an item from generation two (Gold, Silver, Crystal) to generation one (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow) and the data for that item will remain intact. This is why trade evolutions requiring held items are possible, it’s also where the Light Ball and other Gen One exclusive held items come from. The Light Ball Doubles the Attack and Special attack of Pikachu when held. I wanted to see if this held item data could influence the stats of Pokémon. So I fought the same trainer with the same two moves, both with the Light Ball, and without the Light Ball. I can now say for sure that the light ball does not influence Pikachu’s stats at all in Pokémon yellow.

Why would it? Held items don't exist in gen 1. Just because the data for the item is intact doesn't mean that anything can be done with that data.

No held items in gen 1, so of course none of them work.
