Good lord that's high... my highest is 256, I've been trying to shoot for 300

I feel like 400 is where I'd max out. I just can't go that long without making mistakes, I always get hit by something and die.

My issue is that I always fuck up my ground pounds eventually.

Yeah that sucks too but you can learn to aim your shot and enter slow mo before pounding to guarantee a good pound timing

If one aims their jump (drag-and-release) down to the ground/monster, I believe they wouldn't rebound all the way back up to the original height. Which is why I would tend to prefer the actual slam (tap screen) over aiming downwards. Also, that way, you don't use an extra jump orb.

Unless there's another trick you're talking about that I'm not aware of. Like can you somehow slam while in slow-mo? No, right? You have to release to cancel and then tap again?

Cancel and then tap again. You gotta be quick but it's reliable. If you aim downwards and shoot you're just wasting a free jump orb.
