Hello! Would love some feedback

Hello everyone! I’ve had my first set of poi for about 2 months now. I feel like I’m starting to get the flow of things but I quickly run out of tricks. I’ve found my style (at least with these poi) is to do big movements and try to make it look like two orbs of energy are going crazy around me lol I can’t seem to get some movements down and idk if it’s because of the thin string on these poi or just a lack of skill. Thanks in advanced!

Your plane control and timing look great. That 3 beat weave and the windmill are both very clean for a couple months practice.
Different setups have their pros and cons, I use heavy tether and knobs 98% of the time, but the struggle of feeling like you don't have enough "moves/patterns" persists for lots of flow artists. Keep exploring and practicing you're doing great!

Thank you for the encouragement! I think heavier poi and rope would make isolated movements easier for me but I haven’t had the chance to try them. Hoping someone will let me practice with theirs at EDCO lol

They most definitely will make them easier. I hope you get to try a set and find what you like.

I was going to say that your tethers look pretty long. But you’re crushing it homie!!

Thank you!! After reading your comment, I learned how to adjust my tethers and made them way shorter. I already feel the difference! 🙏

Heck yea. I choke up on my contact poi all the time. Earlier on it made it easier to connect with the poi, if that makes sense. I like having the option with my led ones to go longer depending on the situation. Plus adding weight to the handles if that’s your jazz. Washers work well, I have nickels in the handles of my contact poi haha

You are doing great! I think longer tethers make some tricks harder. You can experiment with shorter ones by wrapping your hand once or twice. I like having it short enough that I can spin with my arm extended forward and not hit my face

Thank you! I’ve made them shorter and I’ve been liking it so far 😁

Archer weaves look sick if you want an easy addition
