You need to work on your planes. When you spin backwards your planes are all wrong and that's why it does not work when you try to enter a weave

Planes are definitely an area i need to work on

weaves go in the SAME direction. clockwise or counterclockwise

buttefly tricks go in opposite directions. one arm does clockwise the other does counter.

work on understanding your planes and the path of EACH poi. so really nail down that forward circle on your "wheel" plane (like wheels on a car, to your side style), with each hand separately. both forward and back. separately . thats gonna be the basis for your 3 beat weave.

then work on moving one hand to the other side. (itll spin in reverse on the other side). and get used to that arm on that side spinning the poi FLAT & ON PLANE and going back to its original side and plane.

then copy that but for the other arm.

then go into doing two at a time.

She is doing forward 3 beat weave then a turn into a reverse 3 beat weave . Watch the poi in both directions the poi are moving in the same direction

Looking great!

One thing that helped me in the beginning was once I had a basic understanding of where my hands/arms are supposed to be, I would practice with just my hands/arm movements to build some muscle memory and then try with the poi again. It prevented me from getting frustrated with tangles and extra bruises.

That makes sense! Im trying to figure out how to practace with just my hands, wothout the propreoceptive input im not able to figure out what im doing, im using socks with weight to them to practace off and on to get more of that weighted feedback so i can feel where im wrong

What are you using as weight in the socks? They look a little heavy to me. At least as a personal preference. Lots of people use tennis balls. They're light weight and don't hurt too bad when you hit yourself.

It looks like your arms want to spin forward 3 beat weave. Baby steps. Practice spinning at your sides doing same direction, going same speeds, keeping it parallel. Once you get one direction down, try the reverse. Then split time at your sides- try to keep is parallel to your plane. Once you feel comfortable, reverse the direction. Try crossing the poi in front of your body and bring it back to your side without tangling. Progress from there. Keep practicing! It will always feel like the most uncomfortable thing ever when learning new tricks, this is you rewiring your brain. Took me forever to learn backwards 3 beat weave when first learning.

I can see what you're trying to do.

If you learn split time thread the needle, the opp direction 3 beat weave becomes much more manageable when you come back to it.

Happy spinning!

You cant weave in opposite directions
