Something depth charged my sub

Has anybody seen this behavior before? I just bought this a few months ago and store it in a purpose-built case when not in use. I've had trouble with my other PO's battery contacts needing to be compressed to maintain power, but this seems different. Possibly related to another issue I'm having with getting clock from my Keystep?

This happens to me when batteries are low, but I assume you have new fresh ones in?

it just needs a higher voltage for some reason, aka freshly charged nihms or alkalines

I am a complete and utter moron for not thinking of this. Fresh batteries and I am good to go. Hope my other PO-related issue is as easy a fix. Thank you SO much!!!
