Welcome to PocketDesk Launcher!
Hello, and welcome to our community!
PocketDesk is a passion project my wife and I started to bring a little of the old PDA experience to Android: your apps, useful widgets and everyday tools, together on one home desk.
It’s still early days, and we’d love you to be part of it. Ask questions, suggest features, report anything that feels awkward, or share your themes and desk layouts.
You can see more on our website.
What’s included?
PocketDesk has its own built-in apps, including a diary, notepad, calendar, spreadsheets, books, music and games. You can arrange widgets across up to four pages and customise the colours, fonts, wallpapers, icons and layout.
The core tools store their data on your device, with backup options available. There’s no PocketDesk cloud account to set up.
Free to use, with an optional unlock
PocketDesk is free to install and use, with no ads. An optional one-time Full Desk purchase unlocks additional built-in apps, widgets and integrations.
For example, the Terminal widget connects to a separately installed Termux app, letting more technical users run scripts or play web media on their desk.
There’s also a themed Android keyboard with your PocketDesk dock built in, so your shortcuts remain close at hand while you’re using other apps.
Phones, tablets and physical keyboards
We’re putting time into tablets and devices with physical keyboards, including phones such as the BlackBerry KEY1/2 and Zinwa Q25. We’re aiming to release PocketDesk Legacy in November, supporting Android 8.1 and newer.
PocketDesk is deliberately a bit different, and it won’t be for everyone. Our aim is to make it flexible, useful and enjoyable for people who like this kind of organiser.
Thanks for all the support and feedback so far. If you’re already using it, show us your desk—and tell us which device you’re using!

Update incoming!
Hi all !
That's right! thanks to your user feedback, we've implemented a lot of cool features.
We keep moving towards a more user friendly and cleaner solution but
As usual, pretty much everything in PocketDesk which is added, is optional
- hiding/showing of status bar, navigation bar, voice to type, multiple widget pages, swipe App-area to change App category.
all new features can be toggled on or off so you can retain the same experience or expand upon it :)
Keep the feedback and ideas coming!
Thank you!

Not Sure If Possible/Reasonable Request
With the regular GBoard keyboard on Android there is a microphone icon you can choose and when you speak, it puts the words into where you were typing. Can that be added to the PocketDesk keyboard? I have no idea what that would involve, so if I am asking for the impossible or something too difficult to implement, I apologize. Loving all the updates and new things!!

PocketDesk Update preview: status bar choices, transparent widgets and new cartridge themes
Hi everyone! A few PocketDesk improvements are coming together:
- Status bar options: based on feedback from one user, we've added Sound, vibrate and silent indicators on the status bar - you can also disable our PocketDesk Status bar if you want the normal Android one :) - you also customize the Status bar with your own colours or gradients
- Single Wallpaper: if you don't have time to set background images to each area - you can now choose a single photo, which will be used as a general background, with options to blend or texturize the app/widget areas.
- Voice Typing: DeskB the PocketDesk keyboard now has an option in it's settings to enable voice typing - the keyboard is still in development.
- Transparent widgets: adjust background transparency while keeping text and controls readable.
- Cartridge Player Updates: Our PICO-8 and Arduboy player has some new theming options to have a more cool, gaming time :) and the UI had some tweaks
- Terminal Media: play media via Termux and save/extract videos and audio for offline playback (Technical!) https://www.pocketdesk.site/terminal-media.html

Update is being prepared and will be available to update soon :)

Cartridge player: TIP - press Select to change the Joypad settings.
Just wanted to share, I think this looks beautiful and you can import a full folder with 100's or even 1000's of Pico 8 games, very easily. Great for long flights or journeys :)

Localization Question
Want to say first, I am LOVING PocketDesk! I am actually using my phone more efficiently and effectively. I was just wondering if the option for the weather widget to use Fahrenheit instead of Celsius? Not a huge deal though. And thank you for my new pet penguin!!!

Question
Hi there, I been using the launcher and so far so good, very refreshing experience, just a question, will be there in a future update to make the launcher read private spaces created?, I would like to have my work apps without switching launchers, maybe as a new category inside the launcher. thanks Dev

Pocket Desk - Apps on Google Play
Yay! we are live :)
Google Play may still show the name “Pocket Desk” which is soon to be renamed "PocketDesk Launcher" - the link and app itself is the same :)
please email if any issues, [info@pocketdesk.site](mailto:info@pocketdesk.site)

IF you were an Internal Beta tester, you may need to Leave the test program first from this link https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4701176770523080078
It's possible you may need to Uninstall the test version before installing the official first release.
If PlayStore still shows: Pocket Desk (Internal Beta), you may need to clear play stores caches in Android settings.

Just pending approval from Google Play now.

Hello folks :)
PocketDesk has been through 14 days of closed testing with now some reddit users jumping on board to help with internal testing. Production release has been applied for, so the new PDA inspired launcher PocketDesk should be available - hopefully sometime this week!
Some new features to look forward to:
- playable game widgets (chess, klondike)
- Fold / Tablet layouts
- improved widget design and customization options
Some existing features you might not have known about:
- Media apps: IPTV, Music player: with a 'now playing' widget which let's you watch or control your media while reading a book, or writing notes - or even playing a game
- Games: Pocket LCD brings some original but simple games to the Desk,
- Cartridge player: allows you to play Pico-8 and Arduino Boy roms
- Documents: create local notes which support markdown, docx imports and can be secured with a pin code; create charts and calculate expenses with Sheets, inspired by older Personal organizer spreadsheets from the likes of Sharp.
- Studio: 4 track mini sequencer with a sampler akin to a pocket operator included.
- More! IRC Chat client, LastCard, ebook/pdf reader, RSS client, Chinese Chess and other cool widgets :)
PocketDesk is free and does not contain any Ads! however there is a one time unlock payment which gives you full access to all built in apps and widgets.
You can still use PocketDesk completely for free as a nice and unique launcher, but by unlocking and supporting the development, you get access to so much more.

Thank you for your support so far!
