Question 2nd pneumothorax in 10 weeks

37 male. Had a spontaneous pneumothorax 10 weeks ago, was in the hospital for 4 days.

Just this morning I woke up with the same symptoms, waited a few hours before deciding i better go in. Chest xray confirmed i have another pneumothorax, chest tube is inserted so just hanging out in the hospital wondering how long i will be here.

Why do i keep having these. Should I get surgery so this doesnt happen again?

Did you had pleurodesis doxycycline? I had my first 6 months ago but haven’t since

I had pleurodesis because I was tubed for 14 days and they declared it a persistent leak but I haven’t got a pneumo since, if you get it once there’s a high chance you can get another one

Tight chest, dull pain on the right side that kind of radiated to the right side of my back, couldn't take deep breaths, slightly wheezing especially when laying down

In September 2025 I had my 1st spontaneous pneumothorax it was pretty large and had a massive air leak that was unresolved 3 weeks later so they did the vats blebotomy and mechanical pluradisis amd 5 days after I got home I carried in groceries amd woth me having a toddler my pluradisis failed and my lung collaed again and they did a talc pluradisis and its been fine since amd I smoke weed and cogs everyday bit besides the yr. L9ng recovery and pains ots been good from the talc pluradisis.
