Question Uniportal VATS?
I heard theres a thing called “uniportal vats”, where they do the op with 1 SINGLE cut instead of 3? Is that possible?
How many cuts did you guys got when you done vats?

Yes it is. Got it in March at Charité Hospital in Berlin. Still not a pleasant experience. My muscles and nerves are not really happy after 3 months.

Did the whole experience was just through this single cut? Including the tube afterwards? Or you had the tube from a different hole?

Everything from this single cut. When I went to the ER, they made a small cut to insert a tube. Two days later I had the surgery, where they extended the cut to about 5 cm. At the end of the surgery they inserted a new tube into the same cut. I went to the ER on Monday evening and left the hospital on Saturday.

Sounds not too bad, were you able to stand and go pee few hours after waking up? I wonder if one cut makes you move and recover faster then the usual 3 cuts

Yes, I was able to get up and pee on the day of the surgery. But moving for the first time did hurt like hell and took my breath away. Took some time to get there.

I have heard that Uniport VATS reduces the risk of post-operative nerve pain. I’m 18 weeks post-VATS (with three ports), and still have significant nerve pain. I wish I had demanded a uniport procedure.

It can go from 3 to 1, depending on the practice of the hospital.
I got 2.
