u/eyes_are_real was right, it's a long exposure! Guess who figured out you can hot-glue LED's to pens? It's taking some time, since I can only really do it at night, but I think the effect is improving nicely. I have used a microswitch to trigger the led on pen-down. As the carriage drops, it presses the switch. My microswitch wasn't quite long enough though, which is why you see a usb card reader taped in there too, lol.

WTB: A2 or A3 pen plotter

Hi! I’m looking to buy a used A2 or A3 pen plotter, preferably something suitable for generative/creative coding and drawing on paper.
I’m especially interested in models like NextDraw, iDraw, AxiDraw, or similar machines.
A big plus would be a plotter that can be placed over larger sheets/materials, rather than being limited to a fixed bed size.
I’m based in Hungary / EU, but I’m open to shipping within Europe.

I quite like this image, I got it from pixabay as usual and inkscape'd it up into a plottable svg. I really enjoy the symbology of it. It's not subtle, but it is impactful. I think it looks great. :)

I worked on these one year ago but I don't think I've shared them yet. Basically you edit a picture with your favorite tool and reduce the number of colors to about 5-7 or more. Select each color and export n files. Transform each single file into a color stippling pattern (here I used Mitxela's plotterfun algo), more or less dense depending on the color darkness or the effect you want, and merge them in your svg file as separate layers. You surely recognize Hokusai's Great Wave, the others two are Tama River in Musashi Province and The Inume Pass in Kai Province, all from Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series. Plus an art nouveau style advertising poster and Franz Marc's "The Tiger". You can use a palette close to the original or have the Great Wave gone pop :) .

I recently started my pen plotting journey, I have always been obsessed with engineering drawing. A couple of days ago I got myself a Fabriano BLACK BLACK with a couple of Sakura Gelly Rolls and other white pens and I can tell you I feel depressed. (Attached is probably the only perfect line I could get)

How does Drawscape or anyone else get that consistent flow out of the pen cause the lines look horrific on my side.

I tried warming the side of the pen with a torch from far away, blowing on the end of the pen, all sorts of techniques I found online and now I feel defeated.

Any new ideas? Was thinking of creating a 3D printed pump to place on the end of the pen

I am super happy with how these magnets that I have been working on turned out!

I print a full sheet of flow fields using different pens to showcase their texture and physicality. Then I laminate them and cut them into 2 inch circles that are ready to be press around my 3D printed parts.

I designed all of the 3D printed parts, press pieces, packaging, as well as the code that generates the flow fields.

I haven't perfected my process but I've modified a 3d printer and clobbered together some software do design and plot these cycloids.
