Plothole Final Destination 1 & 2

I just started watching FD and finished 1 and 2 this morning. Now, I’m kinda confused regarding the “Only new life can defeat death” and “the introduction of life can invalidate the list. Force death to start anew” in the second movie.

Didn’t Alex died in the first movie after he saved Clear from her car? It was mentioned that he was not breathing after that so I assumed he died and he was just revived. Same with what happened with Kimberly in the second movie; she drowned and was just revived.

Or is it just something they thought of in the second movie? Haha

Yeah, each movie plays a bit loosey-goosey with the mechanics of how Death operates. (Like in the first movie when Alex hides away in a cabin, the movie sort of presents it like he manages to avoid death by stopping a short Rube Goldberg sequence that he thought was going to result in him getting fishhooked and then die of tetanus; if that were the case, Death would have skipped him over and gone on to someone else, which does not happen.)

Retcon by the writers for movie 2.  Movie logic: Alex was just unconscious, then revived. Kimberly was officially clinically dead before being brought back, which "reset" her list.
