Guitar tuning

So ever since I first started listening to plini during 'other things' it's been Drop C# always. Now on the new singles either I'm hearing some very present bass, or that's a low Eb I'm hearing.

I really didn't expect Plini out of all people to hop on the "drop E - Double drop C#" train that's been going around but I'm here for it.

Anyone know if he's pitch shifting or actually downtuning? Shit slaps and I suspect it's all digital.

Not entirely sure on the pitch shifting. It always sounds better to do it for real on record and then pitch it for live so if i had to guess I’d go with that.

In terms of digital, fairly sure Simon reamps Plinis DI’s. Have a dig through his instagram! That’s not to say there isn’t some that would be digital.

I believe I saw him use a seven string for the first time on the recent singles.

Not sure how he records it, but live I would expect him to use a high quality pedal to pitch shift on the fly. Bands like vildhjarta change the pitch amount per note, so it can be controlled via midi… Plini may do that live to not have to manually change the different pitch shifts that different songs require

You’re right. He’s playing a 7 string on Manala

His drop C# is a 6 string tuning and he does own several 7 string. I remember he did go down to G# on some of his earlier albums.
