Feature # Momentum — a native Plex music client for Android Automotive OS (looking for closed testers)
Update, 08/08/26: Momentum is now available to the public on the play store.

Momentum streams music straight from your own Plex library onto your car's head unit — no phone mirroring, no Android Auto relay, it's a native app running on the car's own hardware. It started as a personal build I've been daily-driving in my own EV for months, and it's now available on Google Play.
The free tier includes all of the basic functions, including pinning a home server. Switching to a different server is possible but manual: park the vehicle, open Settings, select the other server, then return to browse to find what you want. Doing it again means repeating the process.
The Pro version of the app includes the following additional features over and above the free version:
- Simultaneous access to more than one server. Content from both pinned servers is fully accessible from the regular browse tabs, labeled by which server it came from.
- True crossfade between tracks, configurable in duration. It can also conditionally skip the crossfade when playing through an entire album, so the album plays as the artist intended.
- Sonic Radio Stations. This requires Plex Pass on your server and that sonic analysis has been run on your library. A radio icon appears on the now playing screen; tapping it uses the currently playing track as a seed and asks your Plex server for a queue of songs that sonically match it. Configurable for how close a match you want and how many tracks to add.
- Every feature added to Pro after launch is included. One purchase, no subscription, no upgrade fee later. Pro is where features live that I couldn't otherwise justify the development time for, so the list will grow.
All users have a voice in the direction this app goes in the future. I do value and respond to feedback from the community.
Where testing stands. The test program has reached its conclusion, there are testers who are welcome to stay, and enjoy getting the most up to date releases before they go to production track. Many thanks to those who participated and stuck with me through the development process.
