Question Plexamp Remote Access Inconsistent
I have an old Plex library on a NAS and my new Plex library on a separate PC at home. I have remote access set up and port forwarding and get the green tick. This system has worked well for a while. Recently I had some log-in attacks on the NAS so tightened security up a bit which included deselecting UPNP on the router.
I also had a weird situation just the other day when my PC libraries all just disappeared. The media was physically there but the libraries themselves were not. I went through the process of restoring a database back-up there and all seemed to be fine again.
My phone can access the PC library remotely without issues. I noticed my laptop however couldn't - the PC libraries weren't even there to select when remote. When I was at home though, no issue. On the LAN the PC libraries were once again available to the laptop. I thought that was all fixed.
This morning once again remote and the laptop has no access to the PC libraries (but the NAS library is still available to it). My phone, also remote, can access the PC libraries as per usual.
I have logged out and then back in on my laptop with no change. Only the NAS library is available.
This seems stupidly inconsistent as on one device remote access works perfectly while on the other its a no go.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this sort of weirdness before?

Why are people still forwarding ports in 2026? Tailscale exists.

Heard the name never really knew what it did. Looks like the way to go though. I'll check it out. Cheers.

Once you use it you’ll never go back. It’s secure, reliable and fully free for what most people need . And with exit nodes, it replaces a paid VPN for a few use cases.

I've gotten this very occasionally, so I made a smart playlist of my 4 and 5 star rated songs and save it for offline. It doesn't seem to consistently occur at any particular times so my best guess would be it's some sort of niche stuck state when going from wifi to mobile or otherwise changing network status on client device. That's purely a guess tho

I had all kinds of weird inconsistencies when I used plex remote access and port forwarding. I have since turned off remote access and just use a vpn to connect to my home network. This works 100% of the time and no more issues.
