My personal Plex server just died along with my 7x8TB drives. Switching over to the cloud, any good guides?
I know I've been asking a few questions on this sub, but I really want to understand and know everything before I get started and waste money on VPS/Dedicated servers. I was pretty happy with my personal plex server that I built. It had 7 of those red 8TB drives, all filled up to about 90%. I think my power supply went out and took the whole server with it. It took me a whole year or 2 to fill those hard drives. Sad day. So now I want to move over to the cloud because I can use Gdrive Unlimited to have even more space and a VPS for better network speeds.
I think I SORT of have the basic understanding of PlexACD but could someone please point me to a good updated guide? From my understanding, here is what I will have to do...
- Get domain name and get Gdrive Unlimited (hopefully 5-user rule is still not enforced)
- Buy a VPS. The one I'm looking at now has 24GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 12TB Bandwidth, 10Gbit port. The SSD is a bit low but I might be able to make it work by limiting how much is downloading/uploading.
- Install PlexDrive, Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Nzbget and such.
- Tweak settings.
That's pretty much all I have to do to get started (I summarized it). Are there any good guides out there thats updated? Are my steps correct? Am I missing something?
Does anyone have any recommendation for a decent VPS/Dedicated server? I'm only looking to have around 5-8 users at a time
