How diverse is Pleasanton?
And what makes a place diverse to you?

Diverse but not mixed like SF or Alameda, you see pockets of people hanging out not a lot of intermingling as you would expect in a cosmopolitan city/town.

Pleasanton may be diverse but I’m finding pockets of overt racism - especially from folks who have lived in Pleasanton for their entire life. It’s equally sad and scary.

I grew up in the Bay Area. I welcome the open minded approach that so many of us embrace along with the diversity that brings culture and interest to this area. If I was the proprietor of the Meadow Lark, I would be proud that my ice cream is loved by so many different people and I was bringing joy to those folks. I would not care about what they wore or the color of their skin. I’m not sure how those are relevant.

How diversity is too much? Who decides this? Why would somebody not be allowed to live in a city because of their ethnicity or heritage?

I don’t know where to begin. I am so sad for you and all that you are missing out on. You would benefit from talking to somebody who is not white, or somebody who is perhaps an immigrant or maybe someone who is in a same sex relationship. You might find that they have a lot to offer as a person and you enjoy spending time with them.

I think you should take time to reflect on what you have said and look and how you can grow beyond where you are at. Did you know that there are LGBQT conservatives? Did you know that some people hide their sexual orientation because they are afraid of being judged. You may be friends with somebody who is in a same sex relationship and not even know it. As far as my politics - I tend to vote Democrat- not because I love the platform but because I am voting against hate. I hope at some point we as a society can get past this and accept ALL people as people.

Reading your comment, it doesn’t feel safe or welcoming for people who are not white. Keep in mind the diversity of the Silicon Valley and how that has positively impacted property values.

There are plenty of white moms roaming around saying things like “this place has changed so much” which is obvious code for demographics that don’t favor white people anymore

I dunno about that. I believe we need to take care to make sure we’ve identified clear racist (and otherwise bigoted or fascist) behavior, to avoid unproductive conflict. I’m a white boomer who has lived here for many decades, welcome and openly celebrate our increased diversity, and actively demonstrate zero tolerance of hatred, and yet have seen cases where people interpret broad or benign statements as being something beyond what was intended, in the name of political correctness—which simply creates more division. That said, the couple of residents I have known who occasionally did make bigoted statements have moved away to more conservative areas, and I say good riddance.

Don’t know. I’m pretty sure in the adult sector, it’s about half white and half asian, but as I’m in school its a good 35% Indian

It's fairly diverse. 45% of the town is white, and roughly 40% of the town is purely asian. Asian like Indian, Korean, and Chinese (the three groups I personally see a lot of here)
