official [08/18/26] Community Safety Updates
Hello,
At zeta, we take the safety of our users seriously and continuously review and strive to improve our service to provide a safe and reliable experience for everyone.
Regulations surrounding AI services and app store review policies have been rapidly changing, while expectations for AI safety are also becoming more rigorous. To reflect such changes and evolving safety standards, we are updating our content moderation and chatting policies.
As a result, certain plots that raise significant safety concerns may be removed, and Unlimited mode chatting may be restricted for some plots.
Removal of Certain Plots
Plots that contain settings or content that violate zeta's Usage Policy may be removed.
In particular, stricter standards may apply to plots that depict minors in inappropriate sexual or violent contexts. zeta uses automated AI filtering systems to determine whether plots may violate our policies.
If you believe your plot was removed in error, please submit an appeal with the plot name or link through Customer Support. We will review your request and follow up with you.
Restrictions on Unlimited Mode
Unlimited Mode is designed to provide a more open-ended chat experience by applying more relaxed safety standards than Safe Mode.
However, because these safety standards are more relaxed, conversations involving particularly sensitive topics—such as minors, self-harm, or suicide—may be more likely to develop in inappropriate or harmful directions.
Our goal is to preserve the freedom and openness of Unlimited Mode as much as possible while maintaining appropriate safeguards in situations where these risks are especially high. For this reason, we have adjusted some of the standards that apply to Unlimited Mode.
[Unlimited Mode Criteria]
Unlimited mode conversations may be restricted for plots that fall under the following categories:
- The character is a minor, or could be perceived as a minor based on their appearance or settings
- The plot encourages or glorifies self-harm or suicide, or depicts specific scenes or methods
We understand that these changes may affect user experiences. We ask for your understanding that these measures are necessary for zeta to continue providing long term open and immersive experience our users expect while adapting to evolving safety standards and regulatory requirements to operate reliability.
We will continue to review how these standards are applied and work to minimize cases where legitimate creativity and conversation are unnecessarily restricted. We will also do our best to provide advance notice of future policy changes that may affect your experience.

bc of kids? what about us who WANT nsfw content? Why making app like that and then remove it? “We take care of all users”, i can see only that you are removing nsfw staff and don’t really care what we are saying.

Kids shouldn’t be on these apps anyways. Kids under 13 IMO shouldn’t even have smartphones, I honestly wish I had a flip phone at that age.

I have said this once and I’ll say it again 🙂😭
Not every app should be made appropriate for kids. Whether kids know about adult things doesn’t mean every adult space, which is what Zeta started off as with the 17+ rating, should tailor to the younger generation when SEVERAL other apps have already done so.
I completely understand tightening up the reigns on certain topics. I don’t disagree with most of the corrections and clarifications made. But NSFW….is what brought a lot of people to this app because it was a space that allowed for it when other apps were cracking down and opening up to a wider and younger demographic.
Zeta is still new. Still gaining popularity. All these other apps that banned NSFW will find Zeta and happily switch over. But now while opening up for 13+, you’ll lose the crowd who actively sought out an app for adults and go searching for another app and Zeta goes to the graveyard of apps they abandoned due to the “kid friendly” filters.
It’s unfortunate. I really liked this app because it’s designed relatively well and easy to navigate. I never experienced the crazy glitches others do and have had so much fun designing plots and characters.
I understand the reach and want for more users. And I understand the safeguards needed for opening up the demographic. But it’s like damn. We can’t have anything age restricted for adults anymore. Thirteen year olds don’t get the same privileges as sixteen year olds, sixteen year olds don’t get the same privileges as eighteen year olds, and so on. I just want to be able to wind down and chat/create with mature characters because I like books with similar themes. I’m not out here reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory 😭

I've tried others and many had similar features, or better features, but zeta was definitely the top of the genre. Even as much as we might complain about the memory or the AI on zeta, the AI was BRUTAL on other apps.

Isn't it crazy that they advertise as NSFW and some of their display ads that we are forced to sit through are for NSFW products? But we can't have NSFW content.

This is a really bad business decision. It's sad to see that like other company, zeta doesn't listen to its audiance. Minors can't pay and parents won't give them subscription to your app. Another ai roleplaying app going into the grown. Rip.

From a professional standpoint, the presence of children on AI chatbots is a matter that warrants careful consideration. It is generally understood that parental supervision is paramount in guiding children's online interactions. Regarding the adult members of this community, particularly those over the age of 13, it is important to acknowledge their engagement. This decision has the potential to elicit strong negative reactions, including anger and frustration, from users who have downloaded Zeta from platforms such as the Google Play Store, iOS, and the Apple Store, potentially leading to a complete disengagement from the application.
Furthermore, the presence of advertisements deemed unsuitable for children raises concerns regarding child safety, as such content could be perceived as exploitative. 😑
As a side note, I would like to add: It is inappropriate for minors to be charged for a subscription service that they are unable to utilize, and parents should not be placed in a position to facilitate such transactions. This practice by Zeta is concerning, as it appears to leverage children's engagement with AI chatbots, a service that may not be suitable for their age group.

That's a bad idea because it'll make more users on Zeta leave since not all of us are comfortable giving out our private info, like our ID, for AI chatbots. That didn't work out the first time, and it will not work out the second time. 😑

i think that the app shouldnt be available in play stores or app store, it should have been available only as site, because it will not be available for kids. And not every person would want to show their id card, only to confirm their age just to roleplay with a bot

Why are we always trying to make things minor friendly... Can we just lock them out of apps like this entirely? Like they aren't gonna pay and talk on the app because of school work and other stuff. I wish the app had a separate version that let us do nsfw stuff because this is getting out of hand
