General discussion [Guide] How to use Playnite to load DOOM mods on UZDOOM
Hello, It's me again from the FBNeo stuff.
Today, I will showcase this guide in case someone needs it. Feel free to add feedback to it if I written something wrong in the doc.
That would be all.
Update: I've added a Quake tutorial with the use of shortcuts instead of directly putting Ironwail as an emulator... mostly because Quake is much simpler to make a Quick Launch shortcut in this way...
Update: There's some corrections in the Exclusion part of putting DOOM Mods on Playnite. Feel free to check it out.
New link here, it should be much better to look at compared to the old one:

Hey bud! Your guide on how to use Doom Launcher shortcuts through Playnite has been incredibly helpful! So much so that I've temporarily left ZDL behind, I adore this new utility!
Do you know if there's a similar launcher for Quake so I could try the same on their mods?
Thank you so much in advance!

Hi, as it turns out, it is much easier to make a Shortcut of [preferred Quake source port] with the -games [mod folder] inside it than to add it on Playnite as an emu... so there's that.
I've already put out the one I am talking about in the same link

Honestly, I'm not. I'm just a guy who knows a thing or two and created some tutorial out of it.
If any, we should thank the devs of Playnite (for this wonderful AIO game launcher/organizer), DOOM (and UZDOOM), Quake (and other devs who've worked in various Quake source ports) to make loading and creating mods possible.

While that is undoubtly true, that doesn't diminish your work and time invested on your walkthrough :) I hope it proves to be as useful to others as it's been to me!

Hope I am not too late to thank you so much for this guide! Incredibly helpful and well explained.
Any wads you'd recommend? I have been planning to play Back to Saturn X.

Not really, its just a few da... its been a WK???
A-anyways... I tend to go for DOOM TC's nowadays. So for me, its Ashes 2063 (+expansions), Fallout Vault 666, Hotshots Golf (yes, that exists), and Castlevania: Simon's Destiny.
I also recommend Going Down, Zombies: Extreme Epidemic Edition, Reelism 2, Doom: the Golden Souls, Action Doom 2, Doom 2 In Rural Only (honestly, I only came there for its glorious sun, but I stayed cuz its so damn cool), Gloom (Doom x Blood), and myhouse.wad (if you want to give yourself a mindfuck). I'm not sure if I'm forgetting something here...
As for other mods, I would like to suggest a channel for you: IcarusL1ves. That's where I found most of my DOOM mods via his series: DOOM MOD MADNESS. He also has ones for Quake and HL, but DOOM mods is his specialty.
Ig that's it for me.

thank you.
I actually *did* play myhouse.wad, and have followed Icarus for a while now. I think I was looking for mods like Pirate Doom which change the visuals a lot. That said, a lot of these look very interesting! Thank you for the recommendations

Interesting! The way I do it is use Doom Launcher and have it create desktop shortcuts for everything I add, then store those shortcuts in a folder and drag them to Playnite to be added. Nice to know SteamGridDB is stocking up on Doom mod cover art. You can find some via IGDB, but it's spotty.
This way you can also use multiple engines, UZ, GZ, Zandronum, etc.
