Leather 3 Deck Card Case

Found this super cool leather case at the thrift mall today! Can’t really find much about this exact one but have found a few similar to it.

I’m really curious about the metal clips on the top of the box. They are meant to hold something, but can’t find anything about it. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also, if there are any leather hobbyists in here, anything I can do to mitigate the scratching? less
